I SAW A REPORT OF A PASSENGER OF A BUS KICKED OFF BY THE OPERATOR FOR SINGING THE HYMN " AMAZING GRACE " .  THE POLICE WERE CALLED BY THE OPERATOR WHO CLAIMED THE MAN WAS CAUSING A DISTURBANCE BY HIS SINGING . ALTHOUGH THE MAN HAD A NICE VOICE , I KNOW HOW IT FEELS TO BE ON A BUS AND HAVING A PERSON SING IN A LOUD ANNOYING VOICE . SOME PEOPLE DON'T WANT TO HEAR SINGING WHILE ON THE BUS AND I THINK IT IS FAIR TO TELL HIM TO BE QUIET OR GET OFF . WHAT DO YOU THINK ???

I guess it depends on the rules and regulations of the company that owned the bus...

If there was a regulation and/ or a sign posted on the bus saying "Please be considerate of the other passengers- keep quiet during the trip" or something to that effect, then he should observe the rule or not ride the bus. If there is no such regulation, then maybe common courtesy should kick in. Sure, he has the freedom to sing, but maybe just one verse and then be quiet. I dunno...

This is absolutely incredible when you think about it. Wait, we can have smacking gum chewers, the gals who refuse to shut their mouth while chewing gum and popping it - now that is annoying! Those who kick the seats. This is a first on being annoying by singing, unless of course you count Barney Fife (Bernard P. Fife in the Mayberry choir), who had to sing -so low that Andy couldn't hear him....LOL

If I were on the bus with him, yahyamoro, he could sing Amazing Grace all he wants, just as long as he's not expecting to get paid for it.

60 years ago, everyone would have joined in.

I would have sat there and enjoyed it. For someone to be so moved by the moment to break into song should be admired. I would have closed my eyes and let it touch my soul.

I ride the bus on a daily basis, and on every trip, there's some character who's either loud, or plays music, or smells, or has some issue.
If we were to kick everyone who got on someone else's nerves off of the bus, there'd be noone left.... including the driver.
I think that the tolerance level of most people has reached a stage of sensitivity that noone can do anything without offending someone else.
I'm not the most religeous person in the world, but a man singing 'Amazing Grace' the way he did is a welcome sight compared to a construction dude on his way home in a sleeveless shirt and a lack of deodorant.

Harleyboy: Jeff has come across this problem on The Woodlands Park n Ride, even in the morning (the "smelly" issue). He complains of it quite often, coming home going, "Why is it that I'm the only one these people sit by!!??"

Believe it or not, one night in my younger days we were on a bus headed back to the hotel from Pleasure Island at Disney World and sang "Amazing Grace" at the top of our lungs. Being the majority of the people on the bus were cocktailed and singing, I suppose the only one we really bothered was the driver.
