First offflying man the durgs they are looking for are not limited to dope and crack. There are illegal performance enhancing drugs that, when taken can make one kid faster, or stronger than the next. It is not a natural strength and is deemed to be cheating. The only way to test for it is a durg test. Kind of like if you cheat on a history test and they cath you- you woulds be punished. The same goes for athletes. Second, the rest of America is calling it a "drug test." The durg test was banned in the 19th century , right before the Civil War.

I don't like it. I think the schools have too much power over kids already without throwing this in. As a parent, I should have control over what physical/drug/medical procedures my kid takes, NOT THE SCHOOLS!! I can buy drug tests at any pharmacy..the school doesn't have to do it. But I can see WHY they're doing it. Performance enhancing drugs have been used by student athletes for a loooong time--my little sisters best friend was a varsity football player for Dobie High back in 1989, and they gave those kids all kinds of steroids, he told us so back then. With competition for scholarships and stuff heating up, I can see why they do it..but that doesn't take away the danger they pose to these kids.
When my daughter goes into high school, more than likely she will be on the swim team. At that time, I'll give the school, and the coach DIRECT ORDERS NOT to test her without me being there. And she will be told NOT TO COMPLY with ANY tests unless either me, her father, or her stepfather are there.
This is MY kid..not THEIRS!!

I have to agree with everyone!! well there are something that be told because people are carzy!! Its for the school's protection abd for the players to keep clean.
