Herbal Teas Saving My Life

I would like to share some information with you that might change your life.

As many of you know, I was in a terrible car accident and I suffered many grievous injuries. One of the places that was damaged I just refer to as “my insides”. I lost my spleen and part of my intestines, and I had broken and fractured ribs along with a collapsed lung. I required a tracheotomy, a gastric tube, a catheter for my heart, and a tube for my lung.

I am also diagnosed with incurable liver virus Hepatitis C (so think carefully before you get a tattoo or a piercing, because that’s the best way to get it!)

I had recently been hospitalized with enlarged liver and I had been having a terrible time struggling with digestive problems, but then a licensed dietitian at “Whole Foods” market showed me these teas that have changed my life for the better.

Two different brands of teas: one called “Traditional Medicinals” and one called “Yogi”.

They have many teas for many purposes. Two of my favorites are “Smooth Move” (yea – it’s for what it sounds like it’s for! ;) ) and “Daily Detox.”

When my husband and I had the flu at the first of the year, we used the “Echinacea” and the “Throat Coat.”

When my husband suffers from allergies he uses the “Organic Nettle Leaf.”

They’re about 4$ for a box of 16 - not too expensive when you think about how much you spend on laxatives, antacids, allergy medications, etc., and these things are actually solving the problem, not masking it. They heal your body.

Most of them taste really good, but if you’re scared just make a small pitcher of regular iced tea and mix in half and half these bags with those. (I say “iced” because we’re in this hot Texas summer, and I’m guessing you’d rather have it cold like I do!)

You can even find these at Kroger, but to get the right prescription I recommend that you go and speak to somebody at Whole Foods in the “Whole Body” department. They are very qualified to teach you what you need for whatever ails you.

I do hope this is helpful for someone.

Hey Debs-you recommended the "smooth move" and "daily detox" to me back in November--when I was trying to lose some weight LOL! I still use both teas on a regular basis. NOW-the "Detox" didn't taste so grand to begin with-but I'm used to it now.

I drink the "smooth move" as a hot tea-and the "detox" as iced tea. I get mine at Kroger.

Theres a lot to be said about herbal teas, herbal medicine. They have worked wonders from way back. Though you do have to be careful on some because there are some people out there that cannot use some of them. My sister has had high liver count and the dr wasn't sure what it was from so she started to use the herbal teas and now her liver count has gone down. I have used many different herbs for many years and when I forget or run out I can feel the difference. I also say the same for vitamins and minerals.
I'm sorry for your accident and pray that each and everyday you become even healthier.
Thanks for putting that info out there.

Hey Sassy. Thanks. You too.

Hi Kenswife! Glad to help. Hope all is well with you and yours.

Hello Whatever_71! I don't believe we've met here before, but it sounds like we have a lot in common. Yea I just try to get the word out so people don't have to suffer needlessly.
Thanks for the prayers. I pray that your sister gets well and feels better too.

Hey, Texasdebs,

Thanks for the information.

You have me worried. Are you going to be okay?

I'm glad you're doing better!

I'm all for herbal remedies, but if you're on any prescription medication, be sure to check with your doctor and/or pharmacist for possible reactions with your meds.

I swear by these things. I am an avid user of echinacea, and give it to my daughter as well. I haven't had a cold/ flu in 8 years. Did catch a bug that the guys kept passing around for two months, but where the guys hacked and coughed and sneezed for a week, mine was gone in two days. When my menopause symptoms became unbearable, I tried black cohosh tea. I figured it would take about a month to kick in.. my hot flashes were lessened in severity in less than a week! A WEEK!! They were one third of what they were before in a month.
I think more people should use natural remedies and homeopathic ways to solve their health issues FIRST...THEN go to a doctor if those do no good. My cousin Vickie's (you remember her) oldest son, TK (we call him HooHa) was diagnosed ADD, ADHD, by his school physician at age 7, but she tried a homeopathic doc FIRST. Turns out Hoo has an allergy to sugar. They manipulated his diet to alleviate sugar as much as possible...BOOM, no more ADD.
I'm glad you're doing better!!!

Hi Chassan. Thank you for your concern. Bless you. It's a struggle (believe me - its a fight), but I'm getting closer.
I was able to read what you wrote back to me - thank you.
It's just so difficult for me to sit upright and type. I really have a whole conversation that I'd like to chat with you about on that topic with lots more questions which I look forward to with much respect your opinion on, but I have to wait for my "moments of wellness" as I call them.

Hi Kagua2! Yeah, I'm in and out. Believe me I'd rather be in - I miss it here! Take care.

W-W: HEey thanks.
Yaeh, that's true. A lot of our pharmaceuticals have the same ingredients just tweaked. Good to see ya.

Mik: Hey there! Yea, I'm the same way. I try to leave the doctor's office as a last resort. There's lots of good remedies out there and they are usually more than helpful. My mom was just telling me about the uses of the herb "Butcher's Broom", one of them being for vericose or "spider" veins.

Hi there Ned! You're welcome. Just trying to get the word out there. Like I said before - I hate to see someone suffering needlessly.

I am of the very artistic type. I love to indulge in a good hobby, especially if it keeps me learning. I am a native Houstonian. I grew up in Pasadena, and have family in Galveston, East Texas, and all over Texas. I am kind-hearted and some say it is my downfall, but I prefer it against the alternative. I love funny movies, action movies, or chick-flicks. I love GOOD MUSIC of all kinds. I love to SING, play PIANO, play GUITAR, and write POETRY. I was also a professional dancer in some small theaters in New Jersey from 1997 until my car accident in June, 2000. (I studied DANCE here in Houston under SONJA ISHAM, and I competed GYMNASTICS here in Houston under Coach FOY CURLY.) I'm an amateur PHOTOGRAPHER and I am really good when I have the right tools- I'm always looking for that perfect shot. I attended PAGE PARKS Modeling and Acting when I was 18 as per the advice of Houston's INTERMEDIA model DIANA TATUM, and DAN CARTER made me look amazing my first photo shoot, so now I'm a wanna-be photographer. I love driving my NISSAN "Nina" and taking good care of her (she takes good care of me, after all). I love KARAOKE BARS!, gardening, cooking, painting, crochet/macramee. I do a lot of JUICING because it's really healthy and I only eat 100% NATURAL FOOD- I feel better and it tastes better. I like to watch OPRAH, EXTREME MAKE-OVER HOME EDITION (me & my hubby 'CRY watching TY'!), THE SIMPSONS, SEINFELD, AMERICAN IDOL, and MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE (five boys and a husband that acts like one- no wonder she flips out!). I'm a pretty spiritual person, we (me and my husband) are believers in Christ and my husband is also Hindu. We are newlyweds and we love each other very much. We have learned a lot together and from one another. Thanks for your interest. Nice to meet ya! Let's blog about it.
