HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP IS MAKING YOU FAT

and let me tell you, it is hiding in all of your food. In your bread, in your hamburger buns, in your condiments and salad dressings, in your jar of pickles, in your sodas, in your fruit cocktails, in your yogurt, in your ice cream, in your juice, in your cookies, in your supposedly "diet" foods, and ESPECIALLY IN YOUR KIDS' FOODS (shamefully).

I gave it up about two years ago (along with M.S.G., hydrogenated oils, and modified food starch) after hearing what Dr. Oz had to say about it and reading what Dr. Mercola had to say about it, and so then I started doing some more research. There is no reason this should be in our food.

Now I get full from my meals or snacks really fast.

My dad is a diabetic and I convinced him to avoid it and he feels better. (I even checked his refrigerator and cupboards! Good job, Daddy!) He gave it up about 6 months ago, I think it was. When I saw him Father's Day weekend he looked so much trimmer. He had become dangerously obese, and I see him now he's going to have to go clothes shopping.

People are tricked by the word "corn syrup" and they think "Oh, it's just a little bit of Karo." and the word "fructose" and think "Oh it's a fruit sugar." Wrong.

It is a food additive that was introduced to these irresponsible food corporations designed TO KEEP YOU HUNGRY AND COMING BACK FOR MORE.

Don't torture yourself anymore. Please give it a try.
If you really want to lose weight, just start avoiding this stuff.
To avoid it, just read the labels.

Oh and don't forget to eat something from the produce section everyday!
I know you are going to lose the weight, you'll see.

Thanks Sassy! I've missed you guys, too. My arm has been giving me a lot of pain where the screws are backing out, so I have a lot of trouble sitting and typing, but every once in a while I get a moment of wellness so I come to visit. lol

Thanks for the warm welcome back.

Good advice, Debs..and I hope you get better!

I've gotten my little one (well, at 11 yrs and 5'2 she ain't that little any more) into the habit of reading labels. She almost has a heart attack right on the spot when we add up the calories, sodium, fat and FCS per bottle. It stops to make her think about what she's putting in her body...which is a good habit to get into, the earlier the better!!

MIK1of3: Yeah? That's really smart thinking.

Thanks. We're trying to get me all better so I can get on with my life, ya know?
Hope all is well with you.

Hey I never heard back from you. Did you get my email? I went to school with your cousin. I even went to their house for sleepovers and I talked to her a few times after high school. I liked her a lot. Please tell her "HI!" from me!

Good to hear from you again! I always read labels and never buy anything with high fructose corn syrup in it. You would be amazed at how much supposedly whole grain bread contain it. I used to buy Mrs. Baird's whole grain white bread, but HFCS is one of the ingredients. The only bread I eat now is Nature's Own whole wheat. That stuff (syrup) is so bad for you!

Yeah, I got your email. I thought I replied to it, didn't I? I forwarded it to her, too. She's still in 'Dena, got three kids, lives maybe six blocks from me. We lost her mom, my Aunt Jo a few months ago to cancer.

Everything is fine with me..Tony and I are working it out. Being an adult is easier when you're a kid, you know?

And it is also why our food costs are going up (because it is in just about everything and now they want to make fuel out of corn, pile on top of that the crop losses in the flood ravaged areas. It isn't just the increase in shipping the food, it's what is in the food.

So glad to see you back. Any updates on when you are going to start getting your workups/surgical fixes at St. Luke's?

You know, it is not like we are addicted to the stuff, if it were suddenly lost forever- who would even miss the horrible stuff! It just slipped into our food as a cheap sweetner, causing a lot of us grief. I did not have time to read labels as a young working man just looking for food when I got hungry.

That is just one of those things that we should not have to worry about, b/c making a living is too important, plus, being at a health risk is not fair to the company we work for, when you think about it.

Hey Kagua2! Yea I remember reading that in one of your blogs or comments. You shoul;d see me at the grocery store trying to find a loaf of bread! The trick is, the less ingredients on the label, the more wholesome it is for you. What other ingredients do you avoid?

I am of the very artistic type. I love to indulge in a good hobby, especially if it keeps me learning. I am a native Houstonian. I grew up in Pasadena, and have family in Galveston, East Texas, and all over Texas. I am kind-hearted and some say it is my downfall, but I prefer it against the alternative. I love funny movies, action movies, or chick-flicks. I love GOOD MUSIC of all kinds. I love to SING, play PIANO, play GUITAR, and write POETRY. I was also a professional dancer in some small theaters in New Jersey from 1997 until my car accident in June, 2000. (I studied DANCE here in Houston under SONJA ISHAM, and I competed GYMNASTICS here in Houston under Coach FOY CURLY.) I'm an amateur PHOTOGRAPHER and I am really good when I have the right tools- I'm always looking for that perfect shot. I attended PAGE PARKS Modeling and Acting when I was 18 as per the advice of Houston's INTERMEDIA model DIANA TATUM, and DAN CARTER made me look amazing my first photo shoot, so now I'm a wanna-be photographer. I love driving my NISSAN "Nina" and taking good care of her (she takes good care of me, after all). I love KARAOKE BARS!, gardening, cooking, painting, crochet/macramee. I do a lot of JUICING because it's really healthy and I only eat 100% NATURAL FOOD- I feel better and it tastes better. I like to watch OPRAH, EXTREME MAKE-OVER HOME EDITION (me & my hubby 'CRY watching TY'!), THE SIMPSONS, SEINFELD, AMERICAN IDOL, and MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE (five boys and a husband that acts like one- no wonder she flips out!). I'm a pretty spiritual person, we (me and my husband) are believers in Christ and my husband is also Hindu. We are newlyweds and we love each other very much. We have learned a lot together and from one another. Thanks for your interest. Nice to meet ya! Let's blog about it.
