I would make all grocery/convenient stores eliminate their "save you money" cards.  I hate carrying them and I have enough keys on my key ring already.  Why can’t they just give me a discount for the simple fact that I’ve decided to be their customer that day?

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!! I have been saying the same thing for years I will not shop at Randalls, Kroger, or CVS unless there is NO other way. It burns me up why not just sell me the milk for $3.50 instead of 4.00 if you can!! My personal boycott is I will drive further to HEB or Wal-Mart passing 2 Krogers and a Randalls before I stop there to use a card.

(you should repost this on the daily message board I think you will get alot of hits)

i like that about heb too, and i would like all the stores to do away with those cards. i think that's just their way of collecting information on us right?

IT IS A SCAM TO GET YOU INTO THE STORE ! RANDALLS AND KROGER DO IT EVERY DAY . RANDALLS HAS THIS " SPEND $50.00 IN GROCERIES AND WE'LL TAKE 10 CENTS OF EVERY GALLON OF GAS YOU BUY FROM OUT PUMP ." SO WHAT CAN YOU SAVE ? $ 2.00 IF THAT . I GETS PEOPLE INTO THE STORES THOUGH . THEY DOO KEEP RECORDS ON WHAT YOU BUY . HEY ANDREA IS CORRECT !

Grocery shopping is something I leave up to my wife. It's just not my thing. We used to go to Randalls, but now my wife swears by HEB. She likes the prices and the variety of foods. We used to get airline miles when we shopped at Randalls, but it really wasn't worth it for us. I can't even remember the last time we flew anywhere!

I have never did one of those cards because I alway sthought they were a way fo rthe companies to keep information on you... Everyone thought I was paranoid......
Now I am glad to sse someone agrees with me. Those cards are nothing but a ploy to get us shoppers into the stores and keep 'tabs' on you. Now I go into a Dollar General the other day and they want my phone number I say no so the cashier tells me I can't purchase the toilet tissue I went in there to get....So now I have to give my phone number to buy toilet tissue.......... What is the world coming to?!

Whenever a cashier asks for my phone number, I either say "no thank you" or I just give them the number to Fox 26 (hee hee!).

These cards do get you discounts, but they allow stores to track your sepnding habits. That's worth far more money to them than any discount they give you.

Lets ask for their phone number when they ask for ours. And when they ask for a card just ask why? And ask it over and over again.

As someone who at one time worked for a grocery company, I can say that those cards are indeed used to track shopping trends and for stores to have your name and address to send you their promotions. I worked for the one that did not use the card, but I find myself being a 'sheep' and using the cards at these places. I do try to use one for 'racking up' airline frequent flyer miles like Ned would. I am a comparison shopper anyhow so I try to maximize my discounts whenever possible.

i think those cards really help the stores track what is being bought, the time it is being bought the rate., etc.. this is a way to help them know what is selling better so they can sell more of it... and adjust the prices accordingly...

the payoff for you is... discounts.. so, there is a win in it for you. i like to go FOOD shopping, but where i go, i've never seen a savings card... (walmart).... *hint..
