Look! This is my old middle school in Madisonville, Kentucky. THAT is an F4 tornado behind it. Let me clarify that this is NOT from the recent tornado outbreak that sent a tornado just south of Madisonville. This is from another outbreak that happend on November 15, 2005.
I had never seen this picture before tonight. I was just looking for more information about the recent tornado outbreak when I came across this picture. My old house is about a quarter mile to the right of the tornado, just behind those trees a little ways. We moved out of that house in December 2001.

Leonard Costanzo took this picture. I did not.

Did you get that "sinking" feeling when you saw it? Wow. What an incredible picture. So did you find out if the middle school was damaged back then or your old house?

Oh yes, the sinking feeling was there. After I looked at it for a few minutes, it seemed so surreal. The tornado is going through some open fields that are behind the school. I remember back when I was first becoming interested in the weather and meteorology, if the weather was bad when school let out, I would be standing outside the right side of the school with those fields to my left waiting for my mum to drive in to pick me up. (Usually I just walked with some friends that lived a few houses down.) I would look at the sky and look at those fields and picture some tornado just going through the open fields. Then I would say, "Nah, that'll probably never happen."

I just couldn't believe this, I know EXACTLY where that is! I remember having a school fair or carnival or something once back in those fields.

As far as damage to the school or my old house, I haven't got a clue. But looking at a map and reading about the tornado's direction of travel, it is possible that it may have gone right over my house or over some houses down my street, depending on its exact directional heading, which I don't know.
