I saw the promo about the choking game on the news this morning. This is very dangerous. I hope parents pay attention to this story. We had a student had to go to the hospital because of this game. Another game that is happening is called the ABC torture game. If your child comes home with a sore on the front of their hand then they may be playing. What they do is take an eraser or their finger nail and scrape the front of the hand once for each letter of the alphabet. With all the infections going around this is just as dangerous.
This is why Parents need to know what is going on in school. Talk to your child's teacher. Most teachers have email, just communicate. I speak with my kids teachers at least 3 times a week. I also stress to my junior high daughter that if i find out she plays these games she will have a lot more trouble at home. PLEASE WATCH TONIGHT!

THANK YOU, skeasling! I am so committed to getting the word out on this dangerous "game." I was under the misimpression that it was about "auto erotica" -- not something young children would be engaging in. I was so wrong. This is a whole new incarnation of "the Choking Game", and it has captured a whole new generation of children. They are teaching it to each other at school,in their friends' bedrooms, at summer camp. They are playing it in the middle of class. They are playing it within a few feet of their parents-- but most adults would not know how to spot it. They're playing it in groups.. They've got no idea how deadly it is. And the rush is addictive, so many are playing it by themselves, with ropes, belts or scarves. Every time they play, they are dying. Either slowly, as parts of their brain die, with every single "buzz" they feel. --Or suddenly, when they collapse and the weight of their body prevents them from waking up again once they pass out. Children as young as 6 are playing. And check out some of the beautiful, young kids who have already died:

If this is the game I think it is, I engaged in this game as a teenager (the choking game) but there was no sex involved. It was a phase; it didn't last long. I don't think it killed any brain cells as I remained a straight A student. But it is dangerous.

The ABC game--that's new to me. I'll be looking for the report at 9.
