For those of us who can remember when teachers could wield paddles and rulers, the thought of a pistol packing P.E. coach or a cranky counselor with a pocketful of lead sends shivers down our spines. But the Harrold Independent school district in north Texas is allowing school employees to carry concealed firearms. Not to scare unruly students by firing warning shots into the air, but to deter and protect  against school shootings, that's according to the district's Superintendent. his reasoning, it takes about 30 minutes to drive from the school to the sheriff's department. the Superintendent also feels the small town's only campus is close enough to the highway to make it a target. teachers who want to be armed for class must have a state concealed handgun license, have training in crisis management and hostile situations and can only use specialized ammunition that minimizes ricochets in hallways. okay bloggers what do you think? is this a good idea or not. hit me with your best shot (excuse the pun)

Remember the old Madonna song about "we are living in a material world and I am a material girl"  Now I don't think we are living in a delusional world but it sure seems to me  there are a lot of delusional girls in the news lately. Let me first point out that I of course have no factual knowledge of any ot the stories I'm about to mention and I'm in no way saying whose guilty, not guilty, or making any judgement calls regarding these women whatsoever. But you've got to admit the following women seem to be a little out of touch with reality..let's start with Rhonda Laine Tavey. when have you ever heard of a person accused of kidnapping five siblings that are not their own kids trying  to get custody of them in court. (kind of delusional wouldn't you say?) okay next we have Victoria Osteen and Sharon Brown. NOW keep in mind I wasn't on the plane so I don't know what really happened, but if the rich preacher's wife wasn't acting like queen bee in first class then why would the Osteen's pay the 3000 dollar FFA fine. No I don't buy the to avoid embarrassment and put it behind her reason. if the Olsteens really wanted to avoid embarrassment and put this behind them why didn't they just pay off Brown. Speaking of brown she too seems to be a little delusional I mean what else can you call her accusation that Olsteen's alleged actions gave her hemorrhoids (what?????) In closing I'd like to give a big shout out to all the delusional girls who are making recent headlines so gosh darn interesting.

is without a doubt the new C.D. by Sugarland called 'Love On The Inside" in a weird marketing ploy the country duo released a deluxe fan edition of the C.D. Last Tuesday (7/22) with four extra songs. there's 17 songs in all and most are really good. if your a country music fan I think you'll agree, this is one really great C.D.

While working on a recent investigation involving an area dog breeder I discovered something about our state's health department. In my opinion it's not worth much. In my report I interviewed two dog breeders from Louisana who claim they bought dogs from a texas breeder that were infected with canine Brucellosis, which is highly contagious and usually fatal. Once the Louisana State Health Dept. got wind of the Brucellosis it quarantined both of the breeders kennels and even recommended that they be tested for the disease themselves. Now according to the C.D.C. it's very rare but in some circumstances Brucellosis can be transmitted from dogs to humans if the human has a weakened immune system or has had an organ transplant. So what did the Texas State Health Dept. do? A spokesperson for that agency told me they confirmed the Brucellosis but took no action because it doesn't pose a public health threat. Guess as far as our state is concerned just a slight risk to certain humans and the deaths of who knows how many poor dogs isn't a public health threat. So let me know what you think did the Texas Dept of health services do the right thing or not?

The recent story involving the two missing kids from Pasadena got me to thinking about the times we see parents on the news, big old tears in their eyes, begging and pleading for their child's safe return all the while knowing they killed them. As I write this there are no criminal charges filed in the Pasasdena case but cops aren't keeping their suspicions that Dad is possibly involved a secret. think about how many times you've seen the awful scenario played out. Your heart breaks as you watch these parents appear to be distraught, overwelmed and dealing with the unimaginable. then a few days or a few weeks later your disgusted to learn the grieving parent is the one with blood on their hands. if you ask me there's a special place in you know where for parents who pretend to be frantically looking when in reality they know the awful truth.

growing up, I was taught work hard and you will be rewarded. Be a good loyal employee and you will always have a job. But it  looks like Corporate America doesn't want dedicated employees who spend their careers being "company" men and women. How many people do you personally know who after spending years with the same company find themselves downsized or laid off. I'm betting the main reason is these employees are making a decent living so their employer decides it's more cost effective to hire someone 20 years younger at half the salary. what about all those years of experience and being seasoned....now adays those qualities seem to go out the window because inexperienced costs less. I know nothing personal it's just business. Still I'm starting to see more and more people having to start all over again in their  40's and 50's. Isn't that when life is suppose to get a little easier? Apparently not.  let me know what you think.

I'm not the kind of reporter who wants to "become" the story, or make the story about me. for one thing I'm not all that interesting. But a story of mine that airs Monday 5/19 is one of those rare instances in which we become part of the story. In my opinion it will be a  sad day for our Nation when the media no longer has the right to question elected officals who spend our tax money. my feeling has always been if you don't want reporters asking you questions then don't run for public office. if you get a chance check the story out and let me know what you think. thanks .

You got to admit, the tradgic death of self described C.I.A. agent Vincent Carnaby has enough mystery to make a movie script. Was he or wasn't he, is the C.I.A. just being the C.I.A. by denying Carnaby's claims? I can't even imagine what this must be like for Carnaby's family and friends who are not only struggling with their loss but also reeling from what's the truth and what's a lie. Hopefully this wont be a situation where the only one who knows the real truth took it with him to his grave.

Rocky as most of you news junkies know, is the 700 pound grizzly bear who killed one of his trainers. you got to feel for Rocky's owner Stephen Miller. His cousin was killed by Rocky while wrestling with him for a promotional video. Sounds like it could be up to Miller to decide Rocky's fate. From what I've read Miller, who trains exotic animals for a living, was in compliance with all state and federal laws. That means it could end up being a situaton where no law enforcement group would have any legal reason or right to euthanize Rocky.  The poor guy lost his cousin, who reportedly loved Rocky, and Rocky sounds like he was quite a "cash cow" for Miller. I think this tradgic accident just goes to show no matter how well trained they are, you can't take the "wild" out of wild animals. I personally think Rocky shouldn't get a death sentence for acting like Mother nature intended. so what do some of you bloggers think?

That's the best way to describe Robert Smith. When I first came to Fox Robert was the 9pm Meterologist, here at the station. you could not meet a nicer guy. While T.V. stations can sometimes be full of ego maniacs, I can not recall one time in the decade I worked  with Robert that I ever heard him raise his voice or be mean to someone. Robert's tradgic death has cause me to think alot about him recently. I can't even imagine what his wife and kids are going through right now. My prayers are with them.

Is it just me or does change seem to be the BIG word used during this presidental campaign. it's really got me thinking alot about change. While change is usually a good thing we all live with wanting to change certain things, but sometimes it's not possible. I recently heard a song about change and some of the lines got stuck in my head because when you think about them. they really ring true...here they are...

"I will learn to let go what I can not change"

"I will learn to forgive what I can not change"

"i will learn to love what I can not change"

"but I will change, whenever I can"

Pretty good words to live by, don't you think?

Got  a call from my mother in Ohio today tellling me how she, my brother, and his son are going to try out for "Deal or No Deal" since that show is on another network, hope i don't get into trouble mentioning it. Anyway, their going to drive for an hour to take part in a big castng call for the above mentioned game show. shouldn't press my luck and mention it by name again. Have to admit it would be a hoot to see any of them on T.V. It could be my turn to laugh at them on the small screen. Guess it could be worse, at least their not trying out for American Idol. Can't wait to hear if any of them make it. Told my mom to act kind of crazy so she will stand out. Now i'm worried  she might take my advice and Howie Mandel will have a restraining order filed against her. have any of you Bloggers ever been on a game show, did you win, would you like to try out for one?
