LONDON--  The first openly gay U.S. Episcopal bishop was barred from a once-a-decade Anglican meeting so he wouldn't become a focus of the global event.

Anglicans on all sides of the issue agree: the strategy has backfired.

New Hampshire Bishop Gene Robinson has been embraced by sympathetic Anglicans in England and Scotland who view his exclusion as an affront to their Christian beliefs.

Robinson plans several appearances on the outskirts of the Lambeth Conference to be what he called a "constant and friendly" reminder of gays in the church.

Robinson said in an interview Sunday with The Associated Press he's "just not willing to let the bishops meet and pretend that we don't exist."

He says "they've taken vows to serve all the people in dioceses, not just certain ones."

How can anyone call himself a Christian yet deny Christians who are unlike themselves?

Bravo to Bishop Robinson.  Note how the aritcle stated he is the first "openly" gay bishop and not first gay bishop.  It's so comforting to know that we don't have to stay concealed away living a pretentious lifestyle as though we don't exist .  Thanks to education there seems to be a climate that is less threatening to be out, to be true to oneself and others.

Thanks to all my friends, bloggers, and family who have embraced me just as I am .

hrm...sounds like a conflict of interest to me.

how can you be a man of GOD and be gay and a bishop to boot? no matter how hard you try you will be going to hell..

how could he be a bishop and just ignore the parts of the bible that say being with men is a sin?

the church should punt him out immediatly and christians should stand to show that is not alright to do this....

Gay bishop ?? read your bible..no such animal..sigh..

i think if i was going to be gay, i might as well be an athiest as well, you cant pick and choose which parts of the bible you want to beleive.

When I say "I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect.
My flaws are too visible
But God believes I'm worth it.

When I say "I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches
Which is why I seek HIS name.

When I say "I am a Christian"
I do not wish to judge.
I have no authority
I only know I'm loved.

beautiful and humbling poem, luv.

ricstir - the infamous "clobber passage" in the account of Sodom and Gomorrah is a story of attempted gang rape of two "outsiders." it says nothing about loving, committed gay relationships. i did not create an innate desire to have women as nothing more than friends. my God would not create me gay, then deny me the physical and emotional reward of love, dedication and companionship. nor would He deny me the privilege to practice my Catholic faith.
one can hold to an anti-gay interpretation, but that is ones choice. the Scriptures do not compel it.

I have no problem with gays or lesbians but in my opinion, I do not feel god intended on same sex relationships. But I am not god there for i can't judge I can only state my opinion.

Read Genesis Chapter 1,2 & 3, Also Read Leviticus Chapter 2, you can also read Romans 1 i believe. Read these books and you should have a good understanding of how God views Homosexuality. It is still our job to Love them in Christ, they are still people just as we are. It is our job to plant the seed as well.

Homosexuality is a decision which is a result from the Original Sin of Adam and Eve. Check out Genesis, Leviticus and Romans please. God opened up my eyes when he led me to this.

God Bless

Mike

From conception we are given a spirit that is pure, clean, and free of any defect that is inflicted on us due to the sinful flesh and pressure of the secular world. When you look at the fall of Adam, the original sin and the consequences that arose thereof, we are inherently born with sin by virtue of our blood, however, we do not have knowledge of sin as infants. Adam and Eve were originally created as immortals without sin and without knowledge of sin. When Adam and Eve submitted to their desire, which was pleasant to the eye, instead of God’s will which was instructed, and ate from the forbidden tree, the result of that event was the two became mortal beings living in sin. It was the original desire that opened their eyes and made them realize they were naked, whereas before they were not aware. It was the original desire that ushered in pain to the birthing process and it was the original desire that introduced sin into this world. One of the biggest issues up for debate in the United States and around the world right now is the desire to be a Homosexual. From a biblical and spiritual position, where does the Bible stand on this issue and how does God view Homosexuality? This desire can only be understood by simply looking at the genesis. Everything that God created has a beginning and the book of Genesis solidifies this fact.

The Genesis of the Desire
God created man in his own image. It further says that God also created male and female in his own image. Genesis Chapter 1:26-29 says the following:

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likenes

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. 29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. King James Bible

Genesis Chapter two is where God specifically states what he is going to create in regards to human beings. Genesis Chapter 2:18 God states the following:

18 Now the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be along; I will make him a helper complementary for him.

Now we will look at Genesis Chapter 2:21-25:

21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam; and while he slept, He took one of his ribs or a part of his side and closed up the flesh. 22 And the rib or part of his side which the Lord God had taken from the man He built up and made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. 23 Then Adam said, This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of a man. 24 Therefo

24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall become united and cleave to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. 25 And the man and his wife were both naked and were not embarrassed or ashamed in each other’s presence.
In the second book of Genesis it specifically states that a woman was created from the rib of Adam. This also means that only a man and woman were created to unite with one another. This is where Homosexuality and all the reasons for being Gay, whether they are given by Psychologists, Doctors, or simple individuals begin to clash with the scriptures given. I have heard individuals say that they were born Gay. If God created male and female in his own image then how can an individual possibly be born Gay? Another reason given for Homosexuality is that he or she always felt like they should have been the opposite sex of what they were originally born (i.e. if born male the desire to be or behave like a female and vice versa). This means that Homosexuality is nothing more than a desire and a temptation that originates from the fall of Adam and Eve and the Original Sin.

The next book in the Bible that gives scriptural backbone to why Homosexuality is a sin is Leviticus. Leviticus Chapter 18:22 states the following:

22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is an abomination.

This is a direct statement about God’s opinion regarding Homosexuality. What God is saying here is that it is a disgusting, impure, unclean, and an unnatural act that is degrading and wicked. God also says the following in Leviticus Chapter 1

30 So keep my charge: do not practice any of these abominable customs which were practice before you and defile yourselves by them. I am the Lord your God.

Another direct statement about God’s opinion regarding Homosexuality can also be found in Leviticus Chapter 20:13 which states:

13 And if a male lies with a male as if he were a woman, both men have committed an offense that is perverse, unnatural, abhorrent, and detestable; they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
The sad thing about today’s world is that the creature is exalted, praised and worshiped more than God himself.

I hope this shed's some scriptural light and sorry about the multiple post it would not let me just post once.

God Bless
Mike
