what is a "code brown" you ask?  a code brown is when a patient experiences a colonic explosion resulting in a bowel movement that could cover manhattan.  it may require two or more nurses to rect-ify the situation.  you haven't lived til you've burped a colostomy bag.  its like letting out 100 farts all at once.  at least we get to leave the room after, but it still wafts down the corridors.  then we sit down and have.....LUNCH! and some people think we get paid too much.  i love my job, i love my job. some patients have PBS (psychic bowel syndrome).  in spite of no intake for days, they continue to BLEEP what they haven't even eaten yet.  but really, if we don't make light of it we will go crazy.  you really don't have to leave your dignity at the door when you enter ICU.  ;-)
