I was out on assignment in the Texas Medical Center last week... when the photographer I was riding with, Eckhart, stomps on the brakes... and claims, "Why are there bras all over that yard, and I'm not covering that story?"

We had to "pop a u-turn, LEGALLY of course,  :)   and go check it out!  He wasn't joking... see for yourself!

You can't see the signs or the BEAR DISPLAY sporting a bra... but it turns out - someone has some very clever friends.  Signs that read - Happy 40th Birthday - we support you were also in the yard.

How would you feel, if you walked out to a surprise like this?

Laugh? - or cry?

My 4-best friends & I with.... the British Army!!!!   (I'm in the middle, front row)

Working the water... in "paddling mode"... I'm in the very front.

So, you're not going to believe this story!  I recently travelled to Calgary w/ my 3-best friends, to see our 4th best friend, Shawnie, who moved there.  (confused yet?)   :)  We date back to sorority sisters at Baylor... so the bonds are there.  :)

At a charity auction, Shawnie in Calgary (in the pic, she's in the BACK of the boat), bids on a "Group white-water rafting trip" & wins it!    We expected "The Group" to be a family...

OH NO... it was a training session with the British Army!  They had never allowed "Civilians" to be apart of this "journey" before...

We were SHOCKED & EXCITED to be in the middle of all the action... HOWEVER, when we e-mailed our hubby's the pics - they weren't so impressed.  tee hee.

Have you ever had a big surprise, when ya least expect it?

Oh, needless to say --- WE HAD A BLAST!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do YOU know that our newscasts are now "interactive" and you can "talk" to us, throughout our newscasts?

Mike Barajas & I chat with our viewers every weeknight from 9-10pm - they even help pick our clothes - by asking to where a certain color!  :)

We're really enjoying it - we feel more like we're talking to someone, instead of just a camera.

So what do you think about this concept - and will YOU chat with us?!  :)

So, are you prepping for Tropical Storm/Could-be Hurricane Edouard?

I spent all morning pulling in potted plants and all of my "cute yard stuff"... wow!  what a workout.

What are you doing?

No, this blog didn't get accidentally moved over from last year!  :)

It's just that I was shopping this past weekend in one of my favorite stores.  While stuff was still on sale from the 4th of July... workers were setting up Halloween displays.  They sure don't waste time, eh?

So, are you ready to plan your elaborate costume, or do you wanna just say "buzz off" for a while?    ;)

So, we have new signs in our Fox 26 restrooms, reminding us the importance of washing our hands for 20-seconds!  Of course, as a Medical Reporter, I'm thrilled... :)

However, when's the last time you saw someone, who washed their hands that long?  Go ahead, count to 20.  It's a long time!  Some studies show it's useless to wash them any LESS time than that.

So, 'fess up - do you scrub-a-roo for 20?

Kent Couch lifts off from his gas station in Bend, Ore., in his lawn chair rigged with more than 150 giant party balloons on Saturday.

How can it be??? A man actually flew on his lawn chair w/ helium-filled balloons from Oregon to Idaho.... 200-miles!  How fun is that?   They're just big ole party balloons.  Can you believe it?

The guy sounds like a hoot --- his wife called him "crazy" before he did it and admits, there's never been a dull moment, since she married him.  :)

He took his b-b gun along, of all things,  to shoot down the balloons, so he wouldn't fly too high, and then to help land his contraption.

So tell me, what's the craziest thing either YOU or YOUR "significant other" has ever done?

So, my oldest lil' guy just turned 4, and I've really been encouraging independence.  WHOA!  Be oh-so careful what you ask for!   Drum roll....

We're at a local hospital visiting a friend, when Zach decides he's WAY too old to go in the ladie's room with his mother (moi).  So, he insists on going into the men's room - OR ELSE (for the 1st time alone).  All I can think is - "There's NO WAY I'm sending a freshly turned 4-year old child into a HUGE MEN's room alone".

A sweet nurse hears the battle... and actually gets a security guard to go into the men's room with him.

SO - what did that teach him?  NOW everywhere we go in public - he says, "Well, just go get me a policeman - one with a gun - & I'll be okay".

YIKES - like that's going to happen!   What's a loving  parent to do?

You can't let sleeping dogs lie when they are loudly snoring.

Lately, I can't seem to shake my dreams ALL DAY, b/c they are still so vivid, from the night before.

Do you remember your dreams?  Do they affect your days?

Do you dream in color or black 'n white?

Have you ever dreamed anything CRAZY about a co-worker, etc., who you're not supposed to dream about?  tee hee

Fast food joints are doing better than ever - b/c more people are skipping the joys of fine dining.

When you're at the drive-thru... do you always "special order" --- no onions, no mayo, etc... or do you order AS  IS?!

Come on, tell me your beef...   '-)

What are you afraid to tell?

Your age?

Your weight?

A tragedy in your life?

At last... a Children's Museum in Sugar Land.  They just opened a "satelitte Discovery Center" in the Town Square... at least for the next 2-months... and they're working toward making a permanent display somewhere in S.L.  I got to cover the "ribbon cutting" this morning... Here's a look at all the activities.

Mayor David Wallace makes the cut!  :)

Kids & Moms at play!

So, now that kids have more to do in "the Land of Sugar"... what's missing in your neighborhood?

Usually driving down lovely Highway 59... heading to Fox 26.... something will just "pop" into my mind about what I want to share with our blogging community & to see if I can get your take on it.

What sparks your topics?  Do you find you mostly write about your passions?  About something that drives you bananas?  What "lights" your writing fire?

So, I'll be away from the news desk the next few days celebrating.... my lil' punkin's 1st birthday!  It's been one of the best years of my life.  This child has added so much joy and happiness to my everything... I feel like I'm even a better "worker at work" b/c of it.  :)  Has a child touched your life in a special way?

I enjoy anchoring the 9pm news at Fox 26 and also serving as Medical Reporter. My favorite parts of the day are hanging out in the O.R. in scrubs, then heading back to the station to get behind the anchor desk. One of my other favorite roles is being a mother. I was blessed with a son two years ago, and he has helped me see the world from a new perspective. I enjoy everything just a little more, now! I certainly look at medical reports in a new way, and understand more how important it is to help keep our viewers healthy & happy!
