Kent Couch lifts off from his gas station in Bend, Ore., in his lawn chair rigged with more than 150 giant party balloons on Saturday.

How can it be??? A man actually flew on his lawn chair w/ helium-filled balloons from Oregon to Idaho.... 200-miles!  How fun is that?   They're just big ole party balloons.  Can you believe it?

The guy sounds like a hoot --- his wife called him "crazy" before he did it and admits, there's never been a dull moment, since she married him.  :)

He took his b-b gun along, of all things,  to shoot down the balloons, so he wouldn't fly too high, and then to help land his contraption.

So tell me, what's the craziest thing either YOU or YOUR "significant other" has ever done?

That's pretty crazy. Craziest thing Jeff and I ever did? Plan/pay for a wedding at the same time as building a house. We came back from our honeymoon and closed on our house the next day.

Oh wait, let me take that back. The craziest thing we ever did was saying yes to letting Greg Groogan interview us for Fox 26. Very difficult thing that was for my very shy husband.

Hey there VP, it's been a few days since your last blog!

I think the guy was nuts but to each his own! I can't remember anything my wife or myself have ever done that would be this crazy other than getting married so young. 41 years with the same woman. Maybe that's crazy enough but I wouldn't change it.

This guy is a nutball. It wouldnt be so funny if a flock of birds ran into him and popped his balloons. At least he should wear a chute. (Especially ifhe gets his balloons at the dollar store) LOL

this is incredebly dangerous, i remember a story of a man who did a similar thing and won a darwin award (a prize reserved for people who furthur natural selection by eliminating themselfs from the gene pool in stupid ways)

dosnt this violate some sort of air space law seeing as he dident have a liscence for the vehicle he was flying and dident file a flight plan?

Texasex... that's a scary thought... flying hundreds of miles on dollar store balloons. tee hee.

odd_megan - you have a perfect point. I read somewhere that he got up to 15,000 feet high... and had to shoot balloons along the way or he claims he would've soared 30,000 feet high!!!

I enjoy anchoring the 9pm news at Fox 26 and also serving as Medical Reporter. My favorite parts of the day are hanging out in the O.R. in scrubs, then heading back to the station to get behind the anchor desk. One of my other favorite roles is being a mother. I was blessed with a son two years ago, and he has helped me see the world from a new perspective. I enjoy everything just a little more, now! I certainly look at medical reports in a new way, and understand more how important it is to help keep our viewers healthy & happy!
