You can't let sleeping dogs lie when they are loudly snoring.

Lately, I can't seem to shake my dreams ALL DAY, b/c they are still so vivid, from the night before.

Do you remember your dreams?  Do they affect your days?

Do you dream in color or black 'n white?

Have you ever dreamed anything CRAZY about a co-worker, etc., who you're not supposed to dream about?  tee hee

That is called day filter (elements of your dream being part of your dreamworld). So don't worry. I have very strange dreams that even I won't mention. My dreams are like movies though. Sometimes I have horrible nightmares and sometimes I'll wake up, go back to sleep and they take up where they left off, and I do that all night. And all I want to do is stop dreaming about it. I also developed a skill when I'm in a certain stage of sleep if I don't like the way I'm dreaming, I change it. I actually hear myself talking to myself saying, "Nah, I don't like the way this is going, go back, ah that's better."

Most of my dreams are "slow vehicle dreams" what ever I am driving or riding on it just has a hard time moving and it's like I am going to get run over. It could be a scooter, truck , tractor, car or anything with wheels. Weird!!! Also I have dreams of a job I had 20 years ago.

I usually remember my dreams. I like it. I dream in technicolor, and it's like going to the movies every night.
My husband gets jealous..he rarely remembers his. When he does, they're usually bad, and that usually means he's in for a rough day.
I found that the food I eat affects the dreams I have. Very spicy foods are 100% guaranteed nightmare fodder...mildly, just wierd, wierd dreams. They usually don't affect my days, though..unless they're about my daughter. Then, I'm real clingy with her all day.
I like being able to remember mine..a couple of them have been the subject of stories I write.
This seems to be common among writers; Stephenie Meyer, author of the Twilight series, says that the first book was a dream she had, about a vampire named Edward who falls in love with a mortal, Bella. She told her sister about it and her sister encouraged her to write the story..and thus, a new series was born.

I'm a total insomniac and very rarely remember my dreams at all!!

Now I do remember when I was younger and the alarm radio would go off, I'd dream I was at a concert. Now I use a buzzer alarm!! LOL

PBMom - I like your way of dreaming! Too bad we can't treat life that way... (change the ending, when we don't like the way things are going.) '-)

Gottaluvit, that is an odd dream. However, slow is better than the world flying by... and making you feel like you have vertigo! :)

mik1of3 - I've never heard of writers being inspired by their dreams, what an interesting comment. As I say Ive never heard of it, my dreams inspired me to write. Hmmm. We may be on to something. '-)

Melissa,
In fact, when I was younger one of my dreams inspired me to go ahead and write. Well, it won an award. Almost made it to the UIL competition, until they said it had to be by a published author. It nearly floored my Teacher that I was the one who wrote it!!!

Mik is right. Later, one of my Teachers told me that a lot of writers, producers and a few scientists actually discovered (or figured them out) while dreaming. Stephen King, the author of Frankenstein (that was inspired by Mary Shelley) having a nightmare, a lot of scientists for new discoveries. You really would be amazed - it is actually considered a creative talent.

Some dreams you can turn them around. Always remember my dreams (actually keep a sleep journal). Started this when I was a child. I go back and analyze the dream.

Sassy11 - I think it's so neat that you keep a sleep journal! Do you write in it, as soon as you wake up? I find that my dreams are incredibly vivid when I wake up, but quickly slip from my mind. UNLESS they're biggies, like the one that's been haunting me for days. ha ha.

Actually Melissa, when the dream gets intense and it wakes me up, that is the time. Yes, some of the ones that are vivid, I started out writing what I could remember. Many times the dream occurs again. So, just remember that if you can refocus the outcome on the more intense ones it can help. Often what wakes us up is the intensity, vividness and some odd aspect of the dream. Here is something you can do too that helps. Remember a major aspect (symbol, color, location) if you can recall. Note if you dreamed it in color or did it start out in black and white, then only a particular object was a color. Note the color or what it was that scared you or haunted you.

I've had friends who have cheerful dreams, just weird aspects. Example: Driving a bright yellow corvette down an open road and then detour into a field of amazing flowers. They woke up only because they got to a bridge and the bridge was out or there was no bridge. Stuff like that or something zany. Dreams don't always have to be nightmares.

One of my best friends child used to wake up terrorified. He was afraid of the gigantic dinosaur that was going to stop out their house and everyone on the street. Well, I told him to take his flashlight and shine it when he woke up. Then told him to dream again, but this time He would be the Hero in the dream and rescue his house and the neighbors. It worked, he told me it helped him to turn his dream around.

I enjoy anchoring the 9pm news at Fox 26 and also serving as Medical Reporter. My favorite parts of the day are hanging out in the O.R. in scrubs, then heading back to the station to get behind the anchor desk. One of my other favorite roles is being a mother. I was blessed with a son two years ago, and he has helped me see the world from a new perspective. I enjoy everything just a little more, now! I certainly look at medical reports in a new way, and understand more how important it is to help keep our viewers healthy & happy!
