KEITH URBAN & NICOLE KIDMAN photo | Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman

You know, I was never really a fan of Nicole Kidman..she always seemed a little snobby, cold, uppity; but when Tom Cruise dumped her the way he did, it made her more human to me, and I started watching/reading interviews with her after.  Turns out, the Nicole Kidman behind the ice queen turned out to be pretty cool, and very human.  (Course, she IS a very good actress..)

I guess being publicly dumped and humiliated will do that to you.

Keith Urban I've always liked.  He's always seemed very down to earth, more of an everyman than any country musician I ever read about or watched.  He seemed more like the guy next door, the one you'll invite over for a beer, (well, maybe not anymore, but you get what I mean.)

Certainly not Nicole's type, you would think!!

But here they are, married and pregnant.  Is she responsible for some of his best music ever?  ("Stupid Boy" I swear is aimed at Tom Cruise.)  I think so.

I TRY not to get too obsessed with celebrities and their lives, but these two, well, if there's a story on them, I'll pick it up and read it.  Can't resist.

Keep your Angelina and Brad, give me Keith and Nicole!!

PS..I really like this picture.

What I don't understand is why couldn't Nicole and Tom have babies. They adopted their two kids. Now Nicole has gone on to have a baby with Keither and Tom went on to have a baby with Katie. Do you think perhaps she refused to be a part of scientology and therefore he just refused to have biological kids with her? I thought one of them just had infertility problems.

From what I understand, she says they tried for years for their own child. When she FINALLY got pregnant, he was convinced that she was cheating on him (which is why when asked at the time why he divorced her, he'd reply "Nicole knows what she did"). What gets me is that he waits until she tells him she's pregnant, takes her to Vegas to renew their vows, then a couple weeks afterward, slams her with divorce papers, and the stress causes a miscarriage. They did a DNA test on the baby at her request..and it was his. SCUMBAG!!
A lot of people do think, though, that her refusal to convert to Scientology from Catholicism was the main reason behind his decision to divorce her. The pregnancy and his disigenous reply "she knows what she did" could apply to maybe a promise she made to convert.
His first wife, MiMi Rogers, said that Tom considered his, uh, manhood an instrument, and that he believed in keeping the instrument pure. Ie...low libido.
All in all, I think she got the better end of the deal. Her career and life has surely blossomed since her divorce from King Crazy.

Thanks. It's been coming for some time..we've been struggling for over a year. We tried so hard, even with marital counseling from our pastor AGAIN (we went through it once in 2001) we couldn't overcome the obstacles. For all that we love(d) each other, we're just too different. He's Peter Pan...I'm Professor MacGonigall.

But at least you tried to make it work with counseling; many people don't even take that step.

Since both of us had failed our first marriages, we were determined to stick it out; hoping it was a phase, a down time, and we did everything we could, I hope. But I couldn't be what he needed me to be, and he couldn't be what I needed him to be. I guess that's what you get when you marry after six months of dating; although we had known each other mostly our whole life. (He was eight, I was six, when he moved in across the street.)
