Where's  Louis Armstrong when you need him?    I am live from Galveston Island  starting at  5 AM  until  no longer needed.   I will be along the seawall somewhere.  If you are a Galveston  Fox friend  look me up  if the weather isn't too bad.

I don't think the weather is going to be severe  but you never know.  Right now I am packing a bag  and getting ready to say good-bye to my family as I have for almost 30 years to go cover another  gulf coast  storm/depression/hurricane/...whatever.

See ya'll straight up at  5  tomorrow morning, only on Fox!!

The funeral for Robert Smith is  being handled  by the Schmidt Funeral Home in Katy, Texas.  I found no website.  The family will gather with friends Thursday evening and the funeral service is scheduled  for  Friday morning.  Please check with the funeral home for  all times.

I woke up this morning feeling really  rested, I mean REALLY rested.  I took my sweet time  getting out of the house only to realize it had rained over night.  Rain?  I didn't hear a thing!   must be deaf.  Our yard is torn up, my streets had standing water, the car was soaking wet.  All along the way to work I passed cars that had flooded and had been abandoned.  I can't believe I didn't hear anything.  Everyone at work here is in a bad mood cause they were awake all night  listening to the severe weather that blew threw.  All the tvs in the newsroom are tuned to various  shots of flooding, limbs down, city wide destruction.......in short, a war zone, it appears.

I am not on the air this morning because we were going to round up the RenFest gang to promote their weekend auditions but mother nature took care of that outdoor shot!!

I know we are the Gulf Coast Weather Authority and all  but  I am GLAD  I slept through the storm.  It was nice not to lie in bed wondering  what swollen ditch I will be standing in.  Glad to see that job went to Chris Stipes............ah the new guy..............always make the newest littler in the bunch go stand in the water urging motorists to slow down.

OK, I know everyone has been complaining about the cold and wanting to get more sunshine and all that but I gotta tell you, this is the weather I hate the most.  Do you wear long sleeve, short sleeve, a sweater, a raincoat, what?  You walk outside and it feels a little cool and then by 8 am  you are  hating  the fact that you wore long sleeve or brought a coat to work.  Then you have to drag the coat around all day.

The other thing that really steams me is how companies have their air  systems set on their computers and their computers never can tell when to kick on the A/C  or kick back on the heat  so consequently every building you walk in to feels like the heat is on!   ARGH%^&*^#

The other morning I woke up and thought I had been hit by a bad flu.  I was hot, sweaty, thirsty, and just couldn't  believe how awful I felt.  Then I got up and saw that the wife had cranked the heater up to  75 degrees!    I quickly hit the A/C switch and dropped the temp to  68 degrees and felt much better!    Ah!!

Frankly, I love the cold weather....call me a polar bear but everyone gets to wear lots of clothes that we never see during summer and everyone is in a much chipper mood because the air is crisp and not opressive like summer.

You weather folks in FoxRad-world need to work on that for me.  LOL

I had the rare priviledge of driving to work this morning at 7 am instead of  4 am.  Man, that sunshine was killer.  I'm used to driving in the pitch black and not the morning sun.  Plus with all the rain it seems like I haven't seen the sun since Christmas.  It's a beautiful morning out there.

One problem though, and I can't believe everyone has to put up with this, I couldn't see a thing with the sun in my eyes.  I always think of  my friends who live out in  Katy.  Each morning they drive in with the  morning sun in their eyes and then every afternoon they drive home with the setting sun in their eyes.  How do you guys do it?  Ya'll must go through a lot of sun glasses each year.

Hi all,
Anyone step outside this morning and then go back in to change their clothes to something cooler? I did. Out of a sweater and into one of my trade mark Hawaiian shirts. It's muggy and stiker and just plain warm outside.
By the way if anyone knows a great place with an abundance of Hawaiiam shirts, let me know.

Boy was I mildewing Monday when I finally got home. Talk about being water logged. I spent the morning trolling Buffalo Bayou. I remembered how badly it can flood and wipe out Allen Parkway/Memorial for morning commuters and I just had to see for myself to make sure those roads were open. As I told a friend, you know, you never turn your back on the water, especially in Houston.
