HELP! Need some suggestions

My God-brother is trying to pursue a career in the acting industry. He is very passionate about this, but he and I don't know how to get started. He almost made the mistake of paying well over $1000 to a talent agency that was supposed to "help" him get started. If anyone knows where he should start, please respond to this blog. Jenna Lewis aka Pam on The Office has a blog specifically on this topic. Her husband (now estranged) is James Gunn, a writer director (Scoobie Doo movie, some horror flicks).

Her blog gives a lot of advice, books worth reading, and legit extras casting sites. Check out James Gunn on myspace too; though not for the faint of heart (language).

First off, I love God and His son Jesus Christ! I love music and have sung in the choir (alto) since I was in elementary school. I love basketball (playing and watching it on tv), I write poetry and short stories, gospel/educational raps, play dominoes and spades, and love being with my husband of 18 years (together 21 years), our 20 year old daughter and 17 year old son. People say that I'm: crazy, fun, silly, hilarious, a great friend, smart, talented...I guess I'll stop there, you get the picture :-)
