I wrote this for my mom in law and wanted to share it with my blogger friends in honor of  Mothers Day!!

THANK YOU

Twenty-nine years ago, you gave me your son,
Praying that I was really "the one!"
You welcomed me into you home and heart
And into your family; I became a part.

You give me the love I've never had,
The love that comes from a mom and dad.
I've always wanted a mom like you;
When God put us together, this He knew.

You're always there every time I call,
And you're there to catch me when I fall.
You're there to hold me when I cry,
And you always somehow, seemingly, know why.

I just want to say "Thank You" on this Mothers Day,
Thank you for being here and never looking away.
Thank you for trusting me with your son,
I want you to know mom--you're number one!

Most of you don't know, but I come from an abusive (both sexual and physical) homelife.  My mom and step dad were alcoholics and he constantly beat my mother, my sister and myself.  He sexually abused my sister and I-and our mother was aware of this.  If it weren't for my mother and father in law and my WONDERFUL husband I can't imagine what my life would be like now!!  My mother in law loved me unconditionally-still does!  She taught me how to raise a child the right way--I thought the way to discipline a child was to slap them across the face and scream and yell at them-because that is the way I was raised.

So MOM-I thought it was only fitting to tell you how much I LOVE and appreciate everything you have done for me!!  I thank you sooooo much for your loving kindness and guidance throughout the years--and I know I haven't been an easy "child" to raise LOL!

I'm so sorry to hear about your home life. You are an amazing woman and have obviously overcome A LOT!!! It is so refreshing to hear that you love your in-laws and appreciate them so much. That seems to be so rare, these days. You're very brave to share your hard times, as well as this beautiful poem. I'm so glad you found someone who appreciates you, for all you are!

I always say that God puts people in our lives for a reason. I'm so glad you were able to escape that life and find a family that loves and welcomes you for you. It's a lovely poem and your mother-in-law should be proud!

You've inspired me. I'm also blessed with a wonderful mother-in-law... so I need to think of something super special, like that. Special gifts like a poem mean so much more than just "stuff". :) Happy Mother's Day to YOU! :)

I love your poem. I also have great in-laws.
I agree, presents/gifts that come from the heart, like a poem, or a picture drawn for you by your children, or even some time off from being mom (your husband taking the kids out for an hour or two for you to have a bubble bath) are worth SOOOO much more than material things. I bet you she loves you just as much, too.

I am a mom of 3, grandmom of 2, married for 29yrs and I am a Tx. "transplant" originally from Alabama. I am the administrative assistant to the MAYOR of Bloggersville, RandyThib!! I work for a physician which NOW takes up most of my days-so sad LOL! I'm not into blogging about politics--Ken keeps up with that information for me LOL! I LOVE talking about family, household tips, makeup/hair tips, and GOD! Other than that, I may RESPOND to your blog, but haven't posted alot much lately!! I miss blogging all the time with my blogging friends and family. I LOVE getting emails from yawl though-keep 'em coming!! I think FOX26 has the best news "family" around-and yes to most of us they are just that "FAMILY"! Keep up the great work FOX-and can't wait to see more and more positive changes for the station (as long as nobody leaves-your bloggers will stay happy LOL!)
