It is with great joy and sadness for me to report that my last day anchoring the morning news at FOX26 will be this Friday June 8.  I have accepted an incredible offer to anchor the morning news at the Fox station in Chicago.  I am both excited and anxious to begin this new endeavor in my life and I want to thank each and every one of you who have made me feel like I was part of your family.  It has been a blessing to be your ALARM CLOCK!

The past 2 1/2 years in Houston have been the most rewarding and challenging in my career so far.   '05 and '06 were certainly banner years for news.  I'll never forget sleeping on the newsroom floor and spending the night at the station all the days leading up to Hurricane Rita and then anchoring from the desk as she came ashore.  A month later that year, ironically I traveled to Chicago to anchor from Cellular Field when the Astros played the Sox (never realizing that I would soon call the Windy City home).

Jose used to joke with me that Texans were very xenophobic but I always felt welcome from day one (thanks to my co-anchors Tom and Jose, all the morning crew and managers).   I planted my own garden and didn't wait for someone to bring me flowers (as the saying goes) and I'm forever indebted to those who helped me plant seeds.  I have been blessed beyond measure.  Thank you for making us the fastest growing morning newscast and thank you for your prayers and warm wishes.  I will miss you all.

You ahve been welcomed since the day we seen you catch that baseball during the World Series Playoffs. I remember your arrival was so hush hush that could not even show your picture for security reasons. Anyway, have a great trip and tell D'Art to give you the booklet I sent for you to take with you to the WInd City. You will be soarly missed.

I feel like I have already lost someone. I just moved here from the surrounding area of Chicago and have watched you faithfully on the news. You have always managed to keep a smile on your face. You have a great news team here, but things just won't be the same...but I am sure they will be able to carry the mantle when you leave. I wish you the best and I will miss you. Our loss is Chicago's gain. Your positive image, cheerfulness and faith in God are the best qualities that you have that you can pass on to your new colleagues. They will be able to learn from you, just as I have done since I moved here last August. Be sure to get plenty of winter coats and hair spray!! lolol. God bless you in your new chapter in life.

You are the best news reader and we love you. It is sad to accept your tranfer from Houston to chicago because we are missing you.

But if that is good for your future I am left with no other alternative except wish all the best.

If you get time and opportunity please try to appear in Houston FOX any time. We will be happy to see and here you some times.

With all the best wishes. May God bless you Jan Jeffcot.

Jan, you are truly going to be missed. I appreciate the fact that you never hid your light under a bush...you were unashamed of your faith in God and that is a blessing. I know that as you continue to seek His face He will continue to guide and keep you.

Jan,
I didn't get to the station much to get to know you in person, but after watching you from Skyfox every morning for the past 2 years, I still felt like I did know you. Your easy and layed back style is the reason why. It didn't seem like you were "reading", it was more like you were talking to each and every listener. Good luck in "The Windy City", and stay warm.

Jan, you lucky dog!! You get to escape this awful heat and humidity! Although, when we're here enjoying our nice, mild winter, we'll think of you and hope you are not buried under snow! LOL

We sure will miss your smiling face every morning. You, Tom, Jose, and the rest of the crew work so well together, I hope your replacement will fit right in and keep the fun going. Chicago is lucky to get you!

Good luck!
