I couldn't get tickets to Faith No More, Metallica and Guns N' Roses so I worked security for it. It lasted 7 hours, I loved every minute of it and I got paid to enjoy two of the best metal acts of the 90s! Also I got to baby sit the "bimbo pen" for half an hour. The bimbo pen are those women with the plastic "accessories" who'll do ANYTHING to get back stage. Man they were so obtuse that they couldn't help be entertaining. Watching them attempt to outsmart one another was almost as entertaining as the concert itself. A perfect ending to a PHENONIMAL day!

The only dumb thing I did was giving away the concert t-shirt I bought to some chumpette I hung with in college. Man...I miss that shirt. :-(

Mine had to be the Prince Musicology tour. I've been to a lot of concerts in my time-from big venues like the Texas Jam (remember those?) to intimate settings like Gilleys. (There aint NOTHIN like being close enough to George Strait to actually reach out and touch him!)
But the Musicology tour in 2004 was by far the best. All races, all ages, all dressed up, dancing our way through two hours of his purple majesty!! Kids on the stage, men, women of all sizes, (not just skinny ones IOW) dancing, singing...everyone was your friend, there were no barriers.
My husband, a metalhead, was apprehensive about the concert--"Miki, we won't be the only white people there, will we?" "What do you mean I have to dress up?" "What do you mean a new Tshirt isn't dressy enough for a concert?" "KHAKIS?!"
But even he, even got a boost..a very pretty rich woman hit on him in the drink line, he politely declined, said he was married: she APOLOGIZED and said she didn't see his ring.
He walked on air for days!!
My 2nd favorite would be the Purple Rain tour in 1984. I paid $25 dollars (alot back then) for a concert SWEATshirt. It was beautiful..no photos on it, just elaborate painting and art work. A boyfriend attending the Art Institute took it on the premise of repainting some of the peeled away paint in 1994. Never got it back, can't find another one even on Ebay. I LOVED that shirt.

Thats pretty cool jan! The Newsboys are one of the best kept secrets when it comes to live entertainment. Well, sort of because there is probably going to be a ton of people at the show, but the avg. joe hasn't heard of them.

I love the Newsboys. I can't wait until Friday Morning. My favorite concert I have every been to was Beyonce "dangerously In Love" tour. I saw her in Houston and I went to Dallas to watch her again. She is sooooo amazing....the way she moves is mind-blowing!!!
Mariah Carey was pretty good too!!! Jan~ you are soooo awesome!!!! I love waking up to the Morning News. You are the best!!!!Have a Blessed day!!!
