Ok, this is NOT funny.  I'm in Connecticut visiting the folks, and I came up here for a break from the heat and to see the foliage.  The foliage (which are the different colored leaves you see in colder climates, in Autumn) is nice.  It's not as nice as some of the previous years, but it beats not seeing it at all.  However, the weather in Texas is colder now than it is here!  It was almost 80 degrees here today, which is unheard of for late October in New England.  It was in the 70's in New York City as of 8pm tonight.  The cold front and some rain is moving through the area, and it's only supposed to get up to 61 tomorrow, which I'm looking forward to.  I'm just ready for the cooler temps, and I was hoping to get them this week here in Connecticut.  Hopefully the cooler temps will remain when I return to Houston on Thursday.

I hope you are enjoying your stay there. Jeff's parents have a house up in the Berkshires in CT and love it. CT is beautiful for foilage, especially in October. I heard it is going down to 40 degrees tonight in Conroe. Guess my swimming in the pool days are over until the spring now. Bummer.

Imatreat: I'm watching the taped 9 p.m. news right now and it looks like you'll be able to experience the cooler weather even later this week. So no worries!

We LOVE this cooler weather. Big mugs of hot chocolate and fires in the fireplace are right around the corner!

Doug: Aw, come on. I rode on the back of a motorcycle in the middle of winter with subfreezing temperatures. I think you should try it and then when you get to your destination, have someone snap a picture of you all blue, like a Smurf! Where is your sense of adventure?! (Just joking).

Ned: After reading that chocolate has the heavy metal lead in it, I think I'll be buying organic chocolate for hot cocoa. I have mixed feelings about the cooler weather. Definitely love it, can breathe better, can open up my windows and air the house out, but with the temperatures as low as they've gotten, that has pretty much shut out the use of the pool to swim until the spring again. And I love swimming. I might have to go buy a simple exercise bicycle to take its place until then.

It's much better today. The rain held off for the most part, and the front moved in. The Weather people were right, it was 61 for the high today, and it's 55 right now and very nice. I was driving around taking pictures of all the pretty leaves. When I get back into town tomorrow, I will post them. As I said, they aren't as pretty as some years past, because of the lack of rain this year here, but it's still better than nothing. And, yes PBMom, Connecticut is breathtakingly beautiful, however you have to pay for that beauty, that's why I live in Houston. I can't make more money and live for less. Up here, I'd probably be living under a bridge. I do enjoy coming up here to visit when I can, especially this time of year.

Have a great trip, but while you're there will you please take some pictures of the changing leaves and send them to us for our weather windows! If you do that...I'll put in a nice cool forecast for you!
