As Cookie watches the news, He hears this morning:

"How the stock market is booming"--?

He sees young people around him driving NEW autos, dressed in designer clothes, living in lavish pads, all watching HD TV, playing with their X-boxes, taking trips abroad, ocean cruises,--(& MANY work at fast food places for 7.00 per hr.)--?

He sees subdivisions being built on EVERY available parcel of property, accomodating the NEEDS of the people--?

He sees the rich getting richer--?

He sees MORE & MORE "pacification of the consumer, (with built in clauses that provide for  non-conformance on the part of the seller)--?

He sees the importation of goods exceeding the outflow of goods--(Unfavorable trade balance?)

Buying foreclosures, Cookie sees MORE & MORE people LOSING THEIR LIFE-LONG POSSESSIONS---?

He sees millions  going bankrupt--utilizing the "system" to just "file"--start over & do it again--passing on the loss to the public--?

Cookie has been around a LONG time, has some "economics" knowledge, has listened to "MANY" sales pitches spanning almost every  "gig"--

Cookie thinks that ALL is "NOT as well" as "some" would want to make us think--?

It is "basic economics" that you cannot spend more than you earn--

You can rob Peter to pay Paul--just "so long"--?

For MANY years it was the "norm" ---that you started with nothing--built slowly, & soon (if you were lucky & disciplined yourself), you would acquire a "nice standard of living"--?

To think that "ALL OF A SUDDEN",  we have progressed to the point---

 that EVERY  high school dropout,

EVERY person who can sign his name,

EVERY person that enters our country with "NOT even the ability to speak the language"---

Can "live a PROSPEROUS LIFE, enjoying ALL the amenities of wealth--

"IS LUDICROUS"!!!!!

Cookie thinks that SOON--when Peter CAN'T borrow anymore--& CAN'T pay Paul--& the B.S. ends--that WHEN "100 million people DEMAND their savings that AREN'T there"---the party will END!!!

He see China "already" facing this ACCOUNTABILITY" problem---Can we be far behind?

Cookie thinks "that (maybe) many white men speak with a forked tongue"--?

The  sad part IS --that there are MILLIONS of Americans, who still have the "American spirit"-

who are honest--

who are christian--

who still abcribe to these values--"that presumes they will be told the truth, & treated fairly"--

that are being "taken to the cleaners"!!!!

Soon, (with the Monkey see/Monkey do-- theory) everyone will "find a way" & our great system will be HISTORY!!!

I agree with what you say. It does get very frustrating at times. I see the world getting worse everyday.
I think its sad when people use others for their financial gain. Like when they loaned people that really shouldnt qualify to buy homes the ability to buy them, then once they got in to them, they found that they really couldnt afford the monthly payments, now their are thousands of forclosures.
Everyone is out to make a buck, or to take advantage and the most cunning and devious seem to get ahead. It isnt right.
I dont know about Texas law but in California they made it harder to file bankruptcy. They did however come out with this program that is supposed to help people actually pay their bills by working with the companies to get the interest rates minimized. Here again, I have heard of and seen some people taking money to help do this but then not following through with it. So the people that are supposed to be helping work it out with the credit card and loan companies get paid for a service they are not doing. What happens? the poor that are trying to do the right thing are getting shafted again.
There seem to be 2 definate mentalities. 1. is the honest, upfront mentality then 2. is a criminal mentality. The people in the first group dont have any idea that the people in the second group and just waiting for the chance to use or con them for their profit Its is very sad but very true. I'm amazed everytime I run into these individuals and listen to some of their devious, thieving ways.

You hit that nail on the head!
It is like "WHO CAN COME UP WITH THE BEST SCHEME"!
These home builders are "selling homes" but after ALL the "clauses" & stipulations, they know these people will NEVER own the home--so it REALLY becomes just "rent" that we are subsidizing!
They REALLY play on gimmicks--
Like the new Xboxes that will sell for 2-300.00, but IF you want to be "1st" it costs $1000=2000.00
They got the applinces down pat, too--
They will last "JUST" outside the warranty--then you get "to do it again"!
Hmmm---??

I think the credit card companies should pay for it ... just like tobacco companies paying out to lung cancer patients.

Cookie, will you consider attending the picnic? Like others have stated, I would really enjoy meeting you.

Cookie,
You sure think a lot. I dunno if there are enough chocolate chips inside my brain cells that could feasibly come up with answers for you.

I agree with most of what you-all are saying but I am a big accountability person. Some of these “schemes” are relatively transparent. I am not trying to make excuses for the exploiters and snakes of the world but I think there are simply too many adults not using their head and they are allowing themselves to be taken advantage of. No one is forcing people to apply for credit cards with ridiculous rates. No one is forcing people to take on a mortgage that is clearly too much for them to handle. I believe Americans need a little discipline and immaturity because this is a dog eat dog world and there will always be snakes.

BTW Cookie; the first letter of every member of my family from oldest to youngest.

Thank ALL of you for your responses--you are TRULY "GOOD" people--

randy--I will probably attend the picnic if it is at Crowley--(Haven't heard since (someone) was supposed to get back & NEVER did!)
Cookie is my alter ego--so probably NOT gonna be recognized as Cookie--

jprjpvrk
Geez man--you make so much sense!
(You got ONE good head on your shoulders!)
Thanks for the enlightenment--I couldn't figure it out--
I agree with the "snakes" bit--(my own terminology, even!)
I come from the old school where a man's word is his bond--& boy, Howdy--these guys can screw you around! Most of these people are young--believe what you say--then when trapped by clauses--they have to fold--
NOT good for our economy--??

The cookie monster-- is a person in the twilight of my career, who believes in speaking the truth, as I see it, regardless of the consequences. It is not the "best thing sometimes" to do, but only in addressing problems, can we change them! I have lived in multiple societies, played every game, and been a success in almost every venture I have entered. I've endured many trials, which gives me a unique ability to have an intelligent opinion on diverse subjects. I am cautious of schemes developed by others. I am not perfect, or judgemental. I do NOT want to appear to be a "Know-it all" I am a devout Christian who early in life developed a "path with God", have stayed on the same path and devotion throughout my life. I don't blog for popularity. I blog in hopes "I" can learn something--in hopes I can help someone else--& address the serious side of life.
