As many Fox Watches, I was glued to the TV for the 45 min case this am. The one thing that I noticed time and time again was it appeared NO ONE was making way for the officers, I know it was a fast moving chase and that the driver probably came up on many people very quickly but... I saw very few drivers  even attempt to get out of the way. A few just stopped, which may have been the safest, but I only remember 2 actually puleed to the side. I am sure that the officers had sirens running. And I would think that someone seeing a car zipping thru traffic wuth a police car on it's tail might susspect there were more police cars to follow.

I have also seen this while driving and I can tell you from my personal experience on an ambulance, it is very frustrating to be tring to get somewhere to help someone and have some "idiot" in front of you just day dreaming along, in the way.

Some ares have went to dash cams that work much like the red light cameras and photograph these offenders and give them a heaft fine.

So folks, the next time you hear a sirien, try to see where it is and where it might be going and get out of the way. And please do not hop in behind it "to make up good time"!

Remenber that the next time it might mean life or death to your or yours.

One of the things I see here in Houston is the disregard for emergency vehicles. I moved here from Michigan in 1995 and I was shocked to see how many drivers ignore sirens and lights totally. Maybe their radio is turned up too loud to hear the sirens......or maybe they are just plain stupid. I always think of the guy laying on the pavement bleeding. Are they going to get there in time to save him?
Memo: If you hear a siren put down your cell phone for one second, check your mirrors, and if you see flashing lights for God's sake pull over and stop. It won't make you that late.

what, you didn't know houstonians don't have to yield the right of way to emergency vehicles? that's just on tv right? *sigh*

it seems like that's the unwritten law here that people feel like THEY do not have to give the right of way. they're too important to pull over and that rule surely doesn't apply to them.

it's ridiculous how no matter what time of day it is, YOUR trip out on the houston streets far out weighs the importance of an emergency vehicle enroute to an emergency with lights and sirens in full force!

it seems like the few that DO pull over seem to think it's alright to just stop even if you're driving in the left lane and not free the left lane and pull to the right. how do you not know to pull to the right???!?!?!?!?seriously, how hard is it to pull over to the right???!?!?

it's so frustrating to me to see these ignorant drivers! people forget that they would like drivers to give emergency vehicles the same courtesy when they're enroute to a call at THEIR HOUSE!

I pull over (to the right) whenever there is any car going at fast speed (emergency vehicle, fire department and police). Often, it is true. People just keep on going and could give one ioata that the emergency, fire department or police are on an important mission. Good grief people! Wake up and get your act together. Some of you (many in fact) should be ASHAMED!

Really think we need to make it a law like we did for the school bus drivers. STOP & PULL OVER! MUY PRONTO - Comprende?

I would like to add to this, It is now a Texas state law that when you see a disabled vehicle or a vehicle pulled over you are to get over to the lane AWAY from them. If they are on the right side of the road you should get in the LEFT Lane and give the officer some room. The law also states that if you can't get over you must slow to 20 mph BELOW the posted speed limit. Not the 20 mph below the 80 that you are going. I know....I know.. if you slow to 20 below the limit one of two things will happen. You will either get A$$ ended or the cop car will get wiped out by some jackass on a cell phone. What really chaps my A$$ is when I see a car on the right side of the freeway and I get over to the left lane just to see some idiot pass me on the right doing 90 and damn near taking the door off the disabled car.

Soon to be 51 year old RN who works for BCBS of TX as a Health Care Advisor. I wake up every M-F morning to Fox News and hate watching the other channels on the week ends, as "my guys" aren't there. I was born and raised in St Louis, MO and moved here from SE MO after I met the love of my life on mySpace (a Fox product). I hate Houston traffic but I love the town and the people.
