Now, I'm going to ask you what I asked everyone at the beginning of that story: What's the best bonus your employer has ever offered YOU?

Do you think incentives like this achieve the desired effect of getting employees to work together to meet company benchmarks?

More importantly (for those of us NOT currently employed by ATP Oil & Gas) do the Volvos and mortgage payments give you the urge to FedEx your resume to ATP, pronto?

I've never received a bonus, but my husband's company rewards employees at the end of the year based on production. His last bonus was $12,000.

Excellent idea and I applaud the company for thinking outside of the box. Yes, incentives do work. IF they are done correctly. Often Corporate generally thinks of goofy incentives and you see less motivation involved (meaning full swing participation). I cannot answer the rest of your questions. Cannot waste all my time blogging. Have to put together a resume.

In addition to the 'normal' monetary bonuses, the best bonus I ever received was a 2 week trip to Australia. It didn't even count against my vacation days.

I've done some bodyguarding in my time. Amongst the people I've protected is porn stars. There have been some "extras" offered, but the only one I've taken is long term friendships with a couple of the ladies. They lead some interesting lives and it's fun to sit around and listen to their tales of the famous and near famous who try to get something for nothing.
