Why wont these idiot politicians pandering gun control laws wake up and realize that the only people who will follow these laws are the LAW-abiding citizens?  The criminal element that are responsible for gun violence in this country are obviously not going to conform, they are murderers, rapists, gang members among other things.  Envoking any kind of gun control is not only violating our constitutional right to protect ourselves from tyrany but leaving the honest law-abiding citizens of our country with no protection against those who wish to rob, rape and murder.  The idiot city council of Philly just tried to enforce gun control in the city and were ordered by the state to stop the enforcement of these laws because it was unconstitutional.  The criminals will continue to do what they do best, BREAK THE LAW, so assuming that more LAWS will fix this problem is ignorant.

I totally agree--

But the society is getting worse, as more & more double digit morons are spawned by the same, who have little respect for laws, perhaps?
I guess if you have laws on the books, you at LEAST have something to use if you need to?

But a gun always works if it's taken care of properly! The law very seldom does what it's suppose to do and even if the police catch them they get out and then do it again.

The main problem hereandnow is the people who make the laws only do so to pacify people into thinking they are protected. The "anti-gun" idiots are the worst. I always wonder if someone in their family was shot and killed if their attitude about owning a gun would change?

No one is advocating more gun controls in Texas. Texans love their guns. I don't but I respect the right of Texans to buy and own guns.

I don't, however, support the sale of assault weapons. We need to reinstitute the ban on the sale of these weapons. Congress let the ban expire, but Congress will reconsider the issue next year.

You're right that there is no way to keep weapons out of the criminals

But we sure can adopt laws providing tougher punishment for crimes committed with weapons, and we can reduce the number of assault weapons in circulation by banning their sale.

We have a constitutional right to defend ourselves.
I stood next to a cop when a bank robber took aim and shot him point blank for no reason.
From that day forth, even ex military, I took some good training, I now carry to protect myself and others around me.
My one contention is:
1. If you draw your weapon then you must intend to use it and use it well.
2. Be accurate and shoot to kill, otherwise don't carry or show it.
3. Keep regular training and a good eye out for trouble.
You must have that contention or keep it at home and don't play with fire.

I just think about Kennesaw, Ga when people talk gun control. This lil town made it law in 82 that every house has a gun, to protect one's self and family. If the criminals know we all are protecting ourselves, they will be second guessing themselves. I havea gun in my home and will be having myself and girlfriend licensed to carry within the next few months. It is the only way to be certain you and your's are safe.

These criminals would absolutly second guess themselves if the knew that every private citizen carried a gun, my daddy is ex military and taught me very young the importance of gun saftey. And FYInfo, his exact words were do not, under any circumstances, brandish a weapon unless you are ready to kill the person you're pointing it at. My only problem these past few years are my girls, they are four and 3 months, my father keeps a loaded revolver in his home, unlocked, and in easy reach, of course, I make him put it away when we come to visit due to the very curious four year old. When is the right age to start teaching your kiddos about guns, she's gotten the danger speech but I don't want to terrify her?

I would say it's time to begin showing her the importance and dangers of weapons. I began with my sons early along with my granddaughter. I would as you, place it out of reach but take her somewhere to let her see what happens when it's fired.

Your father is exactly right on his view on brandishing a weapon. Never point it at anyone unless you are willing to kill. So if anyone sees me point the weapon at them they had best give their soul to God because their butt is mine. I could care less how old they are. Just so happens last night someone had the idea of stealing something of mine but hurt themself when they kicked the tongue of my trailer. I imagine they are hurting very badly. But I would kill them. I even told the Sheriffs Deputy they would be dead and was told he didn't blame me.

If it were someone just happening to be at the wrong place at the wrong time... no, but if someone forced their way into MY home, with intent to steal, or to harm my family in any way...BANG!

I don't know if I could actually shoot someone. My brother had to take someones life that decided they were going to rob his house with him and his new wife in it. He lives in Atlanta, this was about 10 yrs ago. Three men kicked down the front door and as they were coming in he caught the first one in the neck with a gun my dad had given him, a colt .45 long barrel, needless to say it pretty much took his head off, the others ran away. He did'nt talk for like three days, to this day he has never talked to me about it. I think it really tore him up even though this guy was a complete scumbag, career criminal, and probably would'nt have thought twice about killing my brother. Its still a life, very sad, but I guess you do what you have to do to protect yourself and your family.
