To be a american is more than "just partaking in the good life"!

With every indulgence you can receive, someone is responsible for making it available.

With every item produced, there is a cost.

Many Americans believe that this is a land of "milk & honey", free to all who can acquire it.

It is my belief that EACH of us has a responsibility to do ALL we can each day, to keep this nation strong.

I see more & more people getting on SSI--More & more people searching for every loophole to get a "free ride"---

Geez, WE are the government--when you cheat the government, you are cheating yourself, & others who bust their behind to keep the ball rolling!

It seems to be the theme in America that we are ALL so spoiled--We want what we want --NOW--regardless of the cost--regardless of the responsibility to be able to pay for it--

I see 20 yr old  people --driving new Mercedes--living in 200,000.00 homes-wit all the amenities it sometimes takes people YEARS to acquire--

Then they lose their jobs, lose everything---?

The former president of Mexico said that this is a "land of opportunity, available to ALL who want to come here--and they are just taking advantage of the opportunity"!

??

Citizens of all races are breeding like rabbits--

Children used to be a "blessing", something thought of, & planned---now we have this MASS production where so many are born out of a accident--Too many productions without responsibility or means for their proper care--

This may not be good--??

It is a changing world---& MAYBE--not for the better-?

Time will tell---

Although I agree with everything that you just said, I agree with one point the most...that we are all "spoiled".

One would clearly see this if they travel internationally (which I do quite often). Travel to places where there is no such thing as a 'free ride' unless you per chance found a stray donkey on the side of the road.

Let's not forget how these free rides came about however. The Great Depression, when people were truly in need, was when these programs came out. However, as time went by, legislators have gotten softer and softer....

What boggles me is why? I know for a fact that most of the people who free load on aid don't vote anyway...

You are a very astute blogger Hala, & a pleasure to correspond with.

I also agree, & think the point was that to be successful, you have to build, work, create, & "use" less.
Everyone seems to be wanting to eat at the table, but don't want to buy the food or wash the dishes.
Everyone wants to have the "best" & do the least.
Pretty soon, maybe there will be noone to buy the food--no dishes to wash?

I remember my youth where I only had a attic fan in the summer to pull hot air across your sleeping body
I remember listening to a radio for entertainment
When my electricity recently went out in a storm, I quickly remembered the "old days"
NOT fun!!
