What Song explains you, or how you see yourself right now? Or is there one that sums up your life?
For me, to sum up my life. There are two Beatles songs that really explain me.........
Tommorrow never knows and I'm only sleeping. And maybe perhaps
With or Without you.......

I was made in the counterculture and remain so....
So music lovers tell me what song discribes you, your life, and who you really are............

Destination Hamburg Review

The Beatles New DVD Destination Hamburg...

1960 photo with former drummer Pete Best.
My Publisher got me a copy of this DVD before it was released. She knows what a huge Beatles fan I am. So here is my honest opinion of it.
Most of it comes from a 1968 interview, though from various sources. I found it to be very informative, very entertaining. And over a must for every series Beatles collector. Alot of the interviews are candid and until now has not been released. Alot comes out about the early days in hamburg, Pete Best, Stuart Sutcliff. The heart aches and the craziness of Hamburg and such.

Beatles posing for in Liverpool with new drummer Richard Starkey (Ringo Starr)
1962.
This also goes thru thier early days of the Cavern club gigs as well. It discloses alot of things even I didnt know. But over all I give this DVD two thumbs up....

Early days at the Cavern, though with Ringo on the drums instead of Pete.
I have really enjoyed this DVD and I am sure those of you who are Beatles fans will as well.
Twist and Shout baby!!!!

And Now, In living colour, John Kay!!!

Just a little update here, The Interview went great.
Actually was invited to stay with John and His wonderful wife the whole time I was in Tennesse.
We of course partied too hard, but what the heck you only live once.....
Here are some of the photos I took I wanted to share with everyone. These and many more will appear in the Feb. Issue.

The top was taken outside John's House, This was taken
in his personal studio. And yes, yours truly got to join in
with the jam session. Man I was on cloud 9......Still am.
John Kay is really a Nice indivdual. He and his wife were perfect host's. I am going to keep back several copies for the houston blogger community that would like a copy of Gonzo . So Let me know who wants one. I am giving them away free to the Fox blogger community. Which includes all
the cities I belong to. Anyway, got to go for now, going to be real busy for a while. Anita is sending me to Interview and old friend of mine Arlo Guthrie and another friend of mine who runs and lives at the only remaining commune in America. "The Farm" Also in Tenn. Trish and Chancey are now in Aspen Colorado. Chancey had her first appearance at the Denver High School. All went well from what Trish told me. The CCF was very pleased and Trish thinks that every kid in the school must of had thier picture taken with her....
anyway, wish all the best from COLD NYC.

Hammers of the Gods

Hammers of the Gods, Guitars of course........
I have collected alot of Guitars over the years.
And I wanted to share them with the houston blogger community and a a little story behind
them..

This was my first guitar
It is a Gretsch country gentleman 1964
It was originally brown, which I had done in
black, then later cherry sunburst.
Now this is the reason I got a new Sitar
for Christmas....I have had this one since1967
and as you can see it is pretty much worn out.

I used to carry this around haight/ashbury everywhere I
went, you never knew when someone would want you to
play something or if a jam session was going on in one of the parks. Though it was at the Whiskey a go go where I ran into a band called Bubble Puppy. I got to sit in with them, mainly because I was the only one around with a sitar and the only one around who could play it. They are one hit wonders and the song they had the one and only hit was called "hot smoke and sassafrass". I learned that one well. Now here is the new sitar my wife got me for christmas.....Beautiful isnt it?

Had alot of fun with this Christmas day.
Also over the years I have bought and played
several other instruments. I was in small bands back in the 60's and 70's but we never went anywhere. Played alot of parks and communes and lovein's. But none the less we and I had alot of fun. Here are some photos of my other hammers and favorite amp the VOX SUPERBEATLE.

This is a 70's Les Paul and a 1966 Richenbacker 12 string

1968 VOX SuperBeatle

My 1962 Hofner Violin Bass

This is my 1963 Richenbacker 6 stringer
Everything is original except the pick-ups.
Now that I have shared a little about my Hammers and
storys with yall.........
What I want to know is, What kind of instruments have you got, or what you like to use. And maybe a little story
about your band experience.....Do you have regular gigs?
Is your band still working out in the garage or what?
Would love to hear your stories now....
Keep on Rockin!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ode to John Lennon

It was on a tragic day, Dec the 8th 1980 a legend and
a great man of peace was silenced forever by a deranged
killer. I speak of John Winston Ono Lennon. He was gunned down infront of his New York apartment returning
from a recording session. It was a tragedy the world will probably never forget. Especially those that saw the Beatles live in concert, like myself. As well as John and the plastic ono band. And or his solo concerts. I was fortunate enough to actually meet him and Yoko at the peace protests in NYC 1971-72. He and Yoko were one of the many speakers during the rally. The line up at most of them were as follows: Abby Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, Hunter S. Thompson, Angel Davis, M.T. Sabertooth Denham (me)
John and Yoko were originally down to get Yoko's daughter Kyoko who was being kept away from Yoko
by Randy Cox the father, which later on it was discovered he was hiding her in houston. John and Yoko even with this going on joined in and help rally our cause to stop vietnam.
from what little time I had spent with them, they were very kind and giving people. They continued apearing at our rallys until the FBI put to much presure on them and because of the marijuana busts in England earlier on the U.S. GOV. decided to deport them so afterward we lost his powerful and mighty voice to Gov. BS.
Even during this they paid for billboards to be put up all around new york which bore the legend "Happy Christmas,
War is over(if you want it). Not only did he, and the Beatles inspire us with thier music John showed us another way to think and another way to do things. War is not the answer...believe me I know. After three tours of Nam I know. Still will anybody listen....."GIVE PEACE A CHANCE"
I know where I was when I heard the news, how about you bloggers?
It was a horrible loss to which I am still not over with.
On this day I still light a candle and observe a moment or two of silence. May his soul be in peace.........
Now here are some photos I have that I wish to share with the houston bloggers..........

These are the glasses John was wearing when he was
shot outside of his apartment.......Chilling, isnt it?

John's old Tea caddy, as he used to call it. Wild Rolls Royce,
huh?

This is one of my favorite posters
I have on my wall.

This is How John and Yoko were when I first met them. We really ought to take a good look at the sign they are holding.
I know I have, and I wish the rest of the world would as well.
He will always be missed, though his message still stands eternal........

Beatles history butcher part II

Here are some photo copies my Cousin Toby Scott got for me
from capital records. They are all photo sessions of the Yesterday Butcher album. You must admit this was pretty wild
for 1966.
.

This photo ended up on the Houston Concert bootleg
Live at the sam houston collesium 1965. It was bootlegged
by Ruthless Rythems.

Just thought I would share this wild photos with the fox bloggers. I have many more of these but it would be way too much for the blog.
So bloggers tell me what you think of these...pretty crazy huh?
Now some wit and wisdom from the cosmic tiger

This is a little something Hunter told me along time ago and
I have been keeping it with me ever since.

Beatles history(Yesterday album)

The Yesterday album, its controversy and history.

Now in 1966 the Butcher cover (top left) was concidered too extreme. This record hit the stores and was banned and pulled from the stores immediately.
Now, What do these albums all have in common besides being the yesterday albums?
They are all butcher albums. The blue stripe and the white are cover ups. Thanks to lazy executives at capital records,
instead of destroying them, they made alternate covers and simply pasted over them. The blue stripe to which I have was never released. They made four of them, then later scrapped it and produced the white cover. (bottom).
Which has made them to be quite the treasure to have.
The white cover up is worth 1-3 thousand dollars, that is of course if you have an original re-release. In the white one you can see a double Y on today and you can see Ringo's V Neck. The blue stripe is worth 10,000 dollars.
My cousin Toby Scott (former flute player for Quick Silver Messanger service) Recieved one, and was a Recording engineer for capital at that time.
How did I get it?
I actually made a pest of myself for ten years or so till he finally gave it to me in 1977. I do believe in persistance.
I was to appear on fox with this, but will not be able to do so
since I am so busy with Gonzo Journalism (which we sold out in three days). We are expanding and I am looking to put Gonzo in Houston as well.
Now the meaning behind the butcher.....
At that time the Beatles thought it would be real artsy and they also wanted to convey a message with it.
That is they have gone from people to being concidered pieces of meat. They couldnt hear themselves any more at concerts, John said people werent even listening to the music. Thier touring became like a circus. Things would break down and they wouldnt even know it.
Now why they picked the white over the blue stripe I will never know. But I think it would have been the better cover.
The Butcher itself did cause quite a controversy as did the two virgins album later on in the 70's. The papers were quoted as calling it grotesque and revolting. Yes, it did hit the front page. That was concidered, like I said before a little too much for 1966.
But now The Butcher is concidered one of the crowns of a Beatles collection, The other is the blue stripe to which I have. FYI The Holy Grail is the suit case record player.
It was quite a thing back then, now these albums are the most sought after pieces from Beatle collectors from around the world. I myself have had many offers for the blue stripe, even up to 5 times it's value. But I will never sell it.
I am an avid Beatles fan and always will be. I am in it for
the love not the money.

The Beatles!!!

This is a top shot from Sam Houston in 1965 I took.
I was wanting to hear about is if anyone else was at that concert.
and if so what were your memories of it, or The Beatles in general.
I was taken by my mother for an early birthday present.
I still concider it the best gift I ever got. The air was filled with excitement, and when Wierd Beard yelled those famous words
And now here they are!!! THE BEATLES!!!!
The stadium audiance as well as myself went wako.
Especially after they hit the stage. The concert was fantastic
and my ears rang for three days. The best time I ever had.

A spare ticket my sister gave me after the concert.
She worked for KILT Pace concert west at the time.
