IS HE FIT TO REMAIN AS BATMAN?

I went to see the new Batman flick, "the Dark Knight," over the weekend. It was the best Batman movie thus far.

Don't know whether you've seen the movie, but you probably have heard that batman star
Christian Bale has been arrested by police in London who are investigating claims he assaulted his sister and mother.

Bale allegedly lashed out at this sister and mother in his hotel suite at Park Lane’s Dorchester Hotel on Sunday.

Does Bales' arrest make a difference in whether you'll see the movie or in whether you'll take your kids to see the film.  And if he did what he's accused of, should he reprise the role again?

It's on my to-see list. Maybe some of that "darkness" rubbed off on him. I don't think I would have even taken any children to see the first Batman movie he did, although I do think his portrayal of Batman is the best of them all. I think I need to hear more about what happened before I make a judgment. Maybe "bad press" is better than no press at all?

being a bad son / brother doesn't make him a bad actor. i haven't seen it yet but i will, and if its fit for kids, they should enjoy it as well.

I agree with Mom... what exactly does "Lashing out" mean? did he beat them? or just yell at them?
I don't think it would have any affect on my wanting to see this movie though. Like Randy says, it doesn't make him a bad actor, and it's not like he killed anybody, or molested a child. Not that I advocate hitting women... That's a big NO-NO in my book too.

Saw this movie with like 100 other people at 10am Sunday morning at the AMC Gulfpointe, and it was AWESOME. I usually see a movie once (twice, if I'm screening it for Scotti like I will Twilight in December) and if I like it I'll buy the DVD. This one, however, I wouldn't mind seeing again.
HOWEVER, IMHO, IT IS MOST CERTAINLY NOT FOR KIDS.
Like PB mentioned, I think that some of the dark elements of the movie may have rubbed off on its actors...I agree with those who say they think the Joker role is what drove Heath Ledger over the edge. Heck, Christian Bale is noted for getting very deep into his characters; and he's played some really twisted characters..American Psycho, the Mechanic..
Actors are not generally the most moral, upright of people. (In fact, scurves is the first word to spring to mind as an adjective.) There are exceptions, but as a rule they are arrogant, narcissistic, self centered and prone to self destruction. You know, like the average pro athlete superstar. Doesn't detract from their talent at their craft.

PBMom and Randy,

Fairly good movie, but I wouldn't recommend it for a child under 11. It could lead to nightmares for children younger than 11.

I like Christian Bale's acting style. I hope he continues making movies and stays out of trouble.

We already have enough self-centered, egotistical maniacs in Hollywood.

Skyder,

I agree with you 100% percent that a man should never hit a woman. Any man who strikes a woman is not a man; he's a child who never grew up.

Mlk1of3,
So true, so true. People with creative skills tend to be missing something upstairs. Doesn't take away from their creative side.

I love reading books, seeing movies, staying up with current events, running and watching what I eat most of the time--got to stay healthy. I blog here in my spare time, mostly late at night and in the early morning hours.
