So, video killed the radio star.  (I'm dating myself).  But what's happening to Television?

Just yesterday I read an article in TV guide about my favorite non-Fox show, LOST.  It barely holds it's #1 ranking in the ratings on Wednesday Nights.  But the article also notes that it is the #1 downloaded show on iTunes.  I happen to be one of those downloaders.

More and more often people are watching "television" on their computers.  This website is a great example.  TV entertainment, news and general information is going digital.  I can't tell you how many times I've missed a video clip and found it on here or YouTube or a similar site.

Where are you getting your TV content?  Are you still watching broadcast television?  Are you heading online for content?  Both?

We watch our shows on our tv. Granted, 80% of the time we've tivo'd them, and just watch them when we have time, but it's still on the tv.

I'm with you, txnchick. TV and tivo. Or, in my case, DVR. Watch what you want, when you want it.

But it's nice to know if you forget to set the DVR, you can still catch a lot of those ..ahem... "lost" shows.. online.

And if you find yourself "lost" while watching "Lost" (as I have been lately), you can always replay it.

BTW, Michael, love the music reference!

beingmichael, when I get behind on my episodes of 24, I catch up with MyFoxHouston.com and/or MySpace.com and to my knowledge other networks have similar options.....though none of them really have the compelling programming as seen on FOX 26. I have basic cable with no D. V. R. option at my apartment so I try to take advantage of re-runs on networks like M. T. V. or v. H. 1.

Think our society is progressively taking the move into the technology zone. Watch TV and use the DVR. Keep thinking that this is probably how my siblings felt when I was using CD's. They were complaining about their outdated 8 track tapes, vinyls and cassettes. Technology moves at a fast rate.

I agree with tripleg, I watch 24, house, are you smarter than a fifth grader and such every timethey are on but when something comes up I go straight to fox 26 and catch up. The kids usually watch the cable tv in the evenings.

I'm still stuck in the ice age, TV and VCR are my weapons of choice. In fact I'm watching the TV and bloggin at the same time, I'm so multi-talented.

BeingMichael,

Television will never die. People will always want to watch their favorite programs. Of course, the way we see our TV programs will change, as the Internet makes further advancements and opens the door to wireless TV via big, thin video screens that can be hung on a wall.

When that day comes, television stations and networks will simply switch to the Internet as the delivery system.

Chassan,

And clearly that is already happening.

No not yet, it's not. Sure the technology is out there, but most people can not afford it.

The advancements I'm talking about would bring the technology into a cost-range that would fit into the average person's pocketbook.

We'll see a day when you can get a huge wall Internet TV screen and the supporting technical equipment for under 200 dollars. We're not there yet, though, beingmichael.

Chassan,

Agreed. I was referring to stations and networks providing content on the net.

Your imagined flatscreen has me looking forward to the future. :)
