geez! have i been living under an ornamental rock  in my garden?? did you guys know that SALVIA is a hallucinogenic? is this the stuff i loaded my backyard with years ago when i had a massive hummingbird garden! (the flowers are great nectar producers) i missed out on the plants other hidden benefits! lol!

so salvia is illegal to grow now in many states. and kids are "doing" salvia because it's still -not- illegal most places. i just want to know how common knowledge it is. what do you guys know about it?

now i guess i know why it's so popular with hummingbirds.  no wonder they don't fly in a straight line!!!

LOL...at first I thought you wrote saliva. I'm sitting here going, "Slobber is a hallucinogen? How do you give THAT to hummingbirds, and how do kids get high off it?Eew!" Then I re-read it, SLOW-LIER.
What the heck is salvia?

Great, now I am going to go in my back yard and start smoking everything.

I've tried salvia before. Take this from the perspective of someone who has done all types of hallucinogens from LSD to psilocybin mushrooms to peyote, Salvia absolutely, 100% STINKS.

Whenever doing hallucinogens, there is always a *chance* that one could experience adverse effects that terrify the mind. With Salvia, my personal experience tells me that chance goes up exponentially. And doing it alone, one can cause great harm to themselves. Not because of psychotic tendencies but because of the stupor it places you in. Falling down is great possibility. I stay clear of it whenever presented with it. Kids can by this at regular smoke shops.

I never knew that. Okay, I'll come clean. I didn't even know there was a plant called salvia. (I am a serial killer of cacti you know). I thought maybe you were talking that your plants were now going to be infected with the water supply that has pharmaceutical drugs in it (LOL).

I need a green bush that will grow/do well in shade and a lot of water. Any suggestions?

Andrea,

It can have dangerous affects. Since I can't put everything there is to say about it, I'll create a blog with additional info. I'll call it "Dangerous Drug Void."

It'll tell you what one can do if they want to see Texas slap the brakes on salvia.

Anything that makes you hallucinate should be illegal.

Robin, unfortunately, that would eliminate husbands, and children, too...
