The gas crises will create a problem.

As gas/food prices excalate out of control, workers will have to have more money, (& still lose a lot of their property) or not work & lose it all.

Business's will have to pay more, charge more, or close.

The alternative is to have people resort to riding busses, walking, cooking, denying themselves ANY entertaiment, or resort to devious means.

As spoiled as we are in general, I doubt that people can go backwards to that degree!

Gas at 3.25 will get most folks over time, (especially with the impact on everthing else) & they are predicting 4-5.00 a gal. for gas in a couple months, which may decimate our economy, even with with severe sacrifices, possibly!

Since preparation is a big part of survival,  when you have a severe situation, I think about it quite a bit!

My daughter had a little over a million dollars in a 401 plan with Enron one day, the next day she had nothing!

What do you think will happen?

I was not around during the great depression that our country experienced some decades ago. But what you are describing...it sounds a lot like what I've read about.

I actually see things getting worse. Companies are consolidating and merging decreasing job availability in many cases. So that leave too many people with nothing but "devious means" as a way to survive. I've seen so many news stories lately about criminals robbing stores for meat and such. Groceries....not money. That alone is a sign of the times.

I appreciate your comments, always like to hear from the intellectual sect!

Since this is so important,(& even mind-boggling)I spend a lot of thought on it.
Preparation is a key in hard times, so if you got a clue what to expect, you can make better decisions, maybe?

I think that in the depression, people were at least mostly honest, hard working folks that really got down & worked together.

This time (I think) we have a much more spoiled, diverse, society & people are a lot more violent.

I fear that in a few months as conditions worsen, people spend their savings, demands on the banks will cause severe problems.
Companies can't operate, no money--no jobs-
(It almost happened last month!)
Many lower class people will begin taking what they want/need--
It could get to "dog eat dog" & possibly a lot of bloodshed--?
When you get hungry, & the only way is to steal, morals don't apply, maybe?

One way I look at it, it seems that such a large nation with so much talent, could never be brought down.
The other way is that EVERYTHING is crumbling, & since it is not just a few areas, there is NO area that is not in trouble! I cannot see how we could ever get out of this mess without some severe problems!
One thing for SURE--
Our money will be worth NOTHING soon, thanks to the oil companies & illegals.

Well AP... since you said you wanted to hear from the intellectual sect, I guess I'll refrain from addressing this.

I will say I agree we are about to be in deep sh-t (although we don't exactly agree who's fault it is) :)

Awww--you know better than that!
U my bud--u smarter than me, we just sometimes don't quite agree all the way!

The few that sort of think alike (Me, u,redtractor, flyinginfo, eblue, torchbearer, bluesqueen, foe+ maybe few others) got to hang in there since we not part of the clique!

This post kinda depressing, but reality!

I was at a truck stop for lunch listening to political commnets--sounded like me--lol!

Your analysis makes very good sense. It really is depressing to think it may come to me needing to kill some person to keep what I have worked all my life to aquire. But I'll do what I have to as will most other Americans who have something, however little it may be, that means a lot tho their survival.

I remember a blog not long ago about a revolution against our government and that could be the only way out. I sure hope not but I'm afraid of what the Country is about to get in if either Obama or Clinton are elected. The taxpayer can't stand any more being taken away from what each gets, whether its from a job, retirement or Social Security. I may be way off base but a revolution will come if one of those win the presidency!

Redtractortom,
Unfortunately, I have to agree with you there. I have been saying if for quite a while now myself. There is a revolution just around the corner, if you ask me. I don't know that any good will come of it, and what type of government would be put in place afterwards, but there will be dissention.
All I know is, I would not bat an eye at having to take matters into my own hands to protect my property, family, and self.

You are so right!
I think that though there are still a lot of "basic" americans here, we are outnumbered by immigrants, & the inevitable will come.
A revolution would be the only way to straighten out this mess, but not likely to happen.
I do think that something of a violent nature will come out of this election, because there are some passionate feelings.
I would not count out the oil group who has had control for 8 years.
They may have enough money, but maybe not?

Thank you for responding--so good to hear from you!

There are too many safeguards in place for another "Great Depression" to happen, but we're about to enter a recession of epic proportions. This will be one for the record books. The one Andrew Jackson oversaw won't have ANYTHING on this one!

After reading the Bible and the descriptions that it gives of the world coming to an end, We are here. I cannot believe we have let George Bush flip us upside down like this and I get frustrated with the fact that majority of this world is suffering and he has yet to be impeached.

I just knew my 30's would be my traveling years but boy was I wrong. Here I am busting my butt at school and at work to try to benefit myself and my future but honestly what is to look forward to? All of these years education has been stressed, the key to get ahead in the world but now not even education seems to be good enough. I have survived 2 layoffs within 4 months at my job; the ones that were the highest paid (except VP's) got cut 1st.
I told my parents that we (my fiance and I) should just get a huge house and all move in together..... what happened to leaving the nest? Sad nad heartbreaking.

Just a senior citizen who has a college degree, has been VERY successful in life because of a relationship with my God--
I can probably live out my life in a comfortable status, barring some horrendus social collapse!
I state my views, in hopes someone gets something out of them, & could care less what my detractors think!
I enjoy blogs with sensible, rational, logic, & hope to get something out of them myself--
If my stance seems arogant, I apologize, as I consider myself a humble person.
What I have learned, I feel confident in, & what others have learned, I hope to learn from.
May God bless--
