Houston we have a new weather girl, Kristi_Powers. I would like to say welcome to the city and hope you enjoy the stay. Now for a few comments.
I wake up every morning to Fox News, its kind of my alarm clock. You are fitting in with the comments and come backs but you have to turn up the volume a little. You are very pretty, now lets hear that voice. Maybe its just me, but I can barely hear you at times. In a conversation its a good thing cause you control the conversation that way but lets hear your roar. He are all friends here.
I seen your blog about your first day, you did good on your first and second day as well. the rest of the week will be great I'm sure. Just a word of caution, dont pick on Perrment Pattie too much, we love her and her corky forgetful ways, YES Pattie I said we love you so there :P
Anyways, again, WELCOME and I will see you in the morning, even if you cant see me ;)

Hanging On Your Every Word

I'm not sure if you weather guys know this but you have so many people out there who hang onto your every word. They listen to your forecast and plan thier lives around what you say. Granted it's not what you may have thought of when you signed up to do the weather but none the less, it happens. The outcome of WARS have rested on the shoulders of the weather. I'll give you an example. While planing for D-DAY, the mission was cancled a number of times based on the forecast of the weather, now those guys were under such tremendious stress that a few took thier own lives because they could not handle the pressure. Not to say that that would ever happen now but you get my point, it takes a certain type of person to take on the challenge of predicting the weather. As Mike said this morning, often times you guys get ragged on if you're wrong but beileve me when I say, there are those of us out here that are VERY grateful when you get it right. So thank you, I may not be one of the ones who hang on your EVERY word, but I do pay attention ;)

Now that Dean is not going to hit us we have to remember that all those provisions we bought this past weekend should be saved for who ever is next to come our way. Hurricane season is not over, don't forget that.
HOW PREPARED ARE YOU

Okay with everyone FLIPPING out over Dean it leads me to wonder, how prepared are you if it hits Houston? Do you have what you will need to survive for at least a week without anyone helping you? That is the first rule of thumb. Do you have food that DOES NOT need to be stored in a cool space. Here are a few things you need to get ready:
1) Get a Mag light. Don’t fool around with those plastic ones from the dollar store, get a real light, one that is metal and can take a beating, in case you drop it, a good 3 or 4 cell from walmart is $20
2) Batteries. Have a fresh supply and again, don’t get cheap and buy dollar store stuff, this is your life we are talking about here.
3) Buy can goods that you will NOT have a problem eating cold. Chef is always a good brand for this. You can eat them cold, they all have pull off tops, no can opener required, and a good source of protein. Make no mistake, protein is going to be your best friend when there is a lack of food.
4) Have a can opener that you have to twist the handle, remember, no electirty for at least a week, is the rule of thumb.
5) A radio, a book, and a deck of cards. Got to keep your mind occupied somehow right. Do stuff to keep your brain pumping.
6) Ziplock Freezer Bags. The ones that are double locked to keep freezer burn out. You can put your cell phone, keys, and important documents that you need to keep dry in these bags, and the great thing is, they float.
7) Since it’s the end of summer you will still be able to find life jackets. Make sure you have one for every member of your family. Just like Allison, you never know how high the water will get and if you will have to leave in a hurry.
8) Peanut Butter and Saltine Crackers. Get the creamy kind, it will also help you keep up your protein levels. Also can fruit is another plus.
9) DON’T FORGET THE BOTTLE WATER!!!
If I have forgotten anything you can post it here.
This weather is my fault

Okay okay, I admit it, I said a prayer to the weather gods to hold off the rain cause I was doing more walking and didn't want to get rained on. SORRY TO RUIN THE FORECAST LIKE THAT!!! Anyway, I asked for the weather to return so the rain can cool us down. The Weather Gods demand an offering so... WILL SOMEONE PLEASE WASH THIER CAR SO IT CAN RAIN!!!
I would like to thank
