Women, not heard and not seen

My husband recently visited Saudi Arabia, when he returned he brought me back an "abaya"

The abaya (Arabic , plural abayat ) is an overgarment worn by some women in parts of the Islamic world. It is the traditional form of hijab, or Islamic dress, for many countries of the Arabian peninsula such as the United Arab Emirates, where it is the national dress.
Traditional abayat are black, and may be either a large square of fabric draped from the shoulders or head, or a long caftan. The abaya covers the whole body except the face, feet, and hands. It can be worn with the niqab, a face veil covering all but the eyes. Some women choose to wear long black gloves, so their hands are covered as well.
Saudi Arabia requires women to cover in public. Covering is enforced by the religious police, the mutaween (also known as the 'mutawa').
Though I love to receive gifts, this one bothers me some. I know that there are religious reasons for it, but for me it screams "oppression, less than, not heard and not seen".
Someone, please, enlighten me.
When do you talk to God?

Me? about 2 seconds after my alarm goes off. I praise Him for just being. I thank Him for all that He has done. Then I ask for protection once I get on the roadway at 4 in the morning. Please protect those who travel around me.
How about you?
Playing the Lottery! $$$

We did a story this morning about the couple that won $270 million dollars in the Lottery. Man, the good they could do with all of that loot!!! I pass 2 Lottery signs on my way to work each moring, and mentally make my list of how I would give it away. First tithes, then Feed the Children, Habitat for Humanity, HIV/AIDS education and research the CAC, I have a very long list. Then bills!!
I have spent, maybe $5 ofn the lottery, so I am not a big Lottery player, but something a guest speaker said at church about a month ago has made me re-think, even thinking about it.
The Lottery is your way of telling God that you don't think that He can provide for you???
What are your thoughts?

Will you attend a Thanksgiving service tomorrow? My church has a service at 10 AM, but that is the time when I am just starting dinner. I could just put the turkey in the oven and finish cooking when I get back. What is my family going to do? start without me??
So a thanks from home or from church?
