How do you lose that 1st 10 pounds?

I have been puting if off. Felt the buttons get tighter, but I refuse to buy a larger size, so that means I need to drop a few!!

I hurt both feet in a fall in March, so I slowed down my excercising...but I can't use that excuse anymore!   Time to get back on my bike and sweat to the oldies or something!

Got any tips on how to lose the first 10 pound, cause you know they are the hardest.

I feel your pain--
Having never been one to have to deal with a weight problem, I know other who have!
Where this is not really an answer to your question, it addresses the problem for me.

I think discipline & keepimg moving, thinking, keeps your mind off eating.
When you sit around, lay around, with nothing on your mind, pacification abounds.

Good luck in your efforts!

multiple back injuries keeps me from being too physical so I do everything in the pool. Water aerobics is MUCH harder than it actually looks.

the most i'd offer is to stay consistent on a workout schedule and limit your portion size.

i'm not one that does well at actually dieting b/c i like to eat too much to give something up. moderation works MUCH better for me.

give yourself a couple months of consistently working out to start seeing results before giving up!

good luck and keep us posted! :)

Actually its been my experience that losing the first few pounds is relatvely easy.

It's getting to the next level that has been difficult for me.

You lose the first 5 or 10 pounds and try to lose a few more. But before you can do it, the first few pounds creep back up on you.

As far as making exercise fun, I like to read when on a stationary bike or the treadmill. It helps pass the time alot faster and you actually learn new information.

waterwaterwaterwaterwater. Along with portion control, watch out for the white stuff - white flour, sugar, rice and salt. Don't become the carb police, but eat healthy carbs instead, like fruit and whole grains.

Please email this to me - I never seem to follow my own advice!

Yes, lots of water! Usually, the first 5 pounds or so that is lost is water weight. So, it's important to monitor your salt or sodium intake. Everyone knows that packaged foods contain many more milligrams of sodium than we need (intake is supposed to be limited to 2,000 mg daily.) So, it's best to make food from scratch, using fresh or natural ingredients. Like W-W said, healthy carbs, fruits, veggies, whole grains. And, read labels for high fructose corn syrup. It's in darn near eveything! No sodas, even diet ones b/c they contain too much sodium. I stopped eating red meat and eat turkey, chicken breast, and fish. I cook with ground turkey, like for meatballs and stuff; my family hardly notices the difference. I lost almost 75 lbs. like this and went from a size 18 to a size 10. So, if you want to know more, address it in your blo and I'll tell you. I just don't want to drag on and on...

Talking about what you do wrong on the road, is my business. My mission is to get you there safely and on time. I am married to a great guy that I met in college. We have two sons and have made Houston our home for quite some time now. We love it here....no SNOW.....well, most of the time.
