Heading Home before the Homer

Morning Bloggerz...
Got to take the Z-Kids to their first Astros game, Sunday, at Minute Maid.
What a great day for baseball... the roof was open and the temperature was excellent. Anyway... the little one was absorbed with which treat she could find next... while the older one made a great effort to understand what was happening on the field. After while, though... their attention span waned and we opted to leave at the top of the 9th with the good-guys down two runs. (BTW... so many people did the same thing, one of the little-Z's asked if anyone was goign to stay to watch the rest of the game)
If you follow the headlines... you know how this one ended: Hunter Pence's walk-off homer in the 12th inning. Sorry I missed it... but no way could those kids have hung that long. Maybe next time.

Morning, Bloggerz...
If you missed it... Legednary Astros play-by-play guy, Milo Hamilton, joined us in the studio Monday to talk about the 'Stros home opened and the season.
Listening to the game, last night... Milo mentioned his visit and said he was treated very nicely (thanks, Pattie) and then offered his surprise to learn Sports Director Mark Berman wasn't here that early in the morning. He said something like, 'Isn't Berman always there...?' It was intended as a complement... 'cuz Scoop always gets the story... but I thought the public nod from a colleague was interesting.

I've joined one of those 'Bootcamp' exercise programs at my local 'Y'... and am writing this after my first class.
Owwwwww! I've heard it before... but Drill Instructor Casey says 'Pain is weakness leaving your body'. Today must be 'moving day' in Z-Ville.
I asked/paid for this... because I want someone to hold me accountable for my progress. Left to my own devices... it always seems easy to let the best of intentions slip away. So... I share this experience... to help make sure I stick with it for the next 4 weeks.
Wish me luck. It could be a loooong February.

Some of you may recall last week, when we discussed my plans to 'compete' in the Cinco Ranch Triathlon...this past weekend. 'Compete' is a funny word... only becasue I was never in any danger of winning the thing... just measuring myself against past efforts... and, perhaps, my buddies.
Anyway... the last did this event two years ago. It ended with me crossing the finish line and promptly collapsing... unable to breathe. The paramedics...who confirmed I had a working heart... also confirmed I'd done a terrible job drinking and eating through the race. In essence... the cupboard was bare.
So. Update. This time, I was determined not to let that happen again. When I crossed the finish line... 400 yard swim, 18 mile, 3 mile run... 1 hour 38 minutes. Faaaaar from the fastest... but certainly not the slowest. And... I was standing at the end.
tell me how you challenge yourself?

Gone on 60 Minutes

I went to a smaller college that didn't even have a football team... so I adopted the nearby University of Michigan, when I was young, to root for during football season... and was excited about an easy 'win' when the new season started last Saturday.
Appalachain State?!?!?!?!?!?!???!?!?! What were the Mountaineers thinking? Didn't they get the memo? They weren't supposed to come the Big House to play. (I'm being facetious)
What were the Wolverines thinking! What a hideous performance. Big Ten Title and National Championship expectations dashed in the first 60 minutes of the season.
And why do I care? It's not like I played the game. But still... so depressed.
