Morning, Bloggerz...

Once again... the news included another story of a mother (not in our area, this time) who left her infant daughter in the car while she went grocery shopping. Her 'excuse' was that she 'forgot' her child was in the car. What?!?!?! How does one forget such a thing?

Now... to the Child Protective officers who've taken her child (who was, thankfully, saved)... this woman says 'sorry', and doesn't seem to understand what the fuss is about, while she pleas for the return of her child.

What should be done about people like this?

Z

i think the kid should be in cps care until the mother can be found to be a fit parent.

She's on drugs. You can see it in the blank expression in her face and that half hearted apology.

Obviously I-right is not a father. Not that I am condoning what she did, but I heard the baby was only a few weeks old. I remember lots of sleepless nights and having that same blank look on my face for many months. Heck, my oldest will be 16 in 2 weeks and I still have that look sometimes. LOL

I can't speak for her but when my child is the car I just turn to look at him. So I don't think I could forget him. I know it is harder when you have a baby to bring them and put them back in the car but you just can't leave them there.

"Obviously I-right is not a father"

No, obviously I'm not partial to trailer trash crack whores with children. I saw the interview.

Years ago, I had to call CPS on a woman who attempted to leave her 14 month old son in my car in the summer. She attempted to stab me because I did it right at the scene, having to use a pay phone (way before the advent of cell phones). She refused to be reasoned with prior to the call and happened to be riding with me as the friend of a friend. I did not care what the outcome was, as long as that child was transported to a safe environment.

I'm apalled and shocked at this generation. In my day, yes I am going there with this... Everyone took care of their children. You did it properly and no you didn't rush into the store leaving your unattended children, you counted the children prior to and after arrival to ensure safety, no you did not put them inside a freezer type refrigerator, slam them into the ground or bash their head in for crying, put them inside a microwave or let some punk beat your innocent child up and dump them in Galveston. I'm not happy at all with the way people are shirking their responsibility. People who treat their children as disregarded trash on the side of the road need serious repercussions and pay the consequences for their lack of responsibility. Maybe if they had to sit outside in the seering heat, or inside a locked car with all the windows rolled up just maybe they could get their selfish selves together (I'm just venting, but boy these folks are true knuckleheads). Good grief this is pitiful. To all the decent upstanding young people, I do applaud you. Now, please assist the others to get the message.

Drugs are no excuse, and the fact that the child is a newer baby is NO EXCUSE. You choose to be a parent, then you choose to take care of them, protect them and keep them safe, under every circumstance. Period. For her to "forget" is a poor excuse. I wonder how she would feel if the govt "forgot" her welfare check. I hate people like this, and too bad if I am making a bad judgement on her, putting her in a sterotype, she's trash, and deserves everything she gets, and more.

These folks should be ordered by a judge to take parenting classes.
