Morning, Bloggerz...

Still feeling a bit miffed, this morning...

Friday night... I took the kids out for ice cream and when we returned to the car... someone had backed right into the Z-mobile and crunched the side in. Not just a ding... but the kind of collision that the offending driver could not have ignored...

Yet... whomever he or she was did ignore it. No hanging-around to say 'sorry'... no note with contact information to claim responsibility. No... just a crash and dash. Unfortunately, there were no security cameras to record the offense... so this creep gets off with not a care in the world.

Look, we all make mistakes... but I try to teach my kids to own those mistakes and take responsibility. Sadly, I don't see too many people who take the same approach. So... if there wqas little chance you'd get caught: What would you do?

Z

Actually, something like this has happened to me, both ways 'round.
Remember the drug stores/ discount stores Pharmor, with Harry Anderson as the spokesman? I loved those stores, and one freezing night I zipped into a parking space to run into my local one. Evidently, I hit an icy patch, and my Mustang slid into the car next to me, door to door, smack!! I backed up and got out to look at the other car. I didn't see a ding on it at all--I was going pretty slow, and like I said, it was side to side. There was no one around, I could have backed out and just parked somewhere else and not said a word, but I left a note telling the other driver what had happened, where I was, and that I would be out in a minute to exchange information, and if they saw any damage to wait for me. (I wasn't going to leave my contact info on the windshield of a stranger--I was a single woman living alone at the time.)
When I came out the car was gone. I guess there wasn't any damage at all.
Then, about a year later, I came out of the mall, and saw something was 'off' in regards to my car. I looked at the driver side, then at the passenger side. On the driver side of the car, the little section right in front of the rear tire--between the door and the front of the wheel well--had been smashed in. Not bad damage, we used to laugh that only a mommy could see it, but it was there.
Payback for me not leaving my contact info on the other car? Maybe.

Tom I was in the same situation on 1960 a year ago when some loser ran into me in the middle of the night and peeled off. Unfortunately there were no witnesses and because it's impossible to read liscence plates at night in your rearview I couldn't report them to the cops.
As much as it sucks tom you'll you'll just have to vent until your anger subsides as there's nothing you can do. But if there is such a thing as karma whoever is responsible shall suffer 10 fold.

Wow that totally bites. Sorry Z!

I personally would leave my name and phone number on the windshield of the car if I wasn't comfortable hanging around and waiting.

Talk about a crash course in ethics. If your responsible for the accident, you ought to own up to it.

My family had a similar incident. My eldest son parked his car on the street, instead of the driveway. The next day he noticed, his car had a big dent in it.

We suspect it was the neighbor's daughter who crashed into my son's car. But with no proof, I didn't have the courage to go and share my speculation with the neighbor.

So we just fixed the car ourselves.

This happened to my girlfriend a few months ago...While me and her were having lunch...someone did the exact same thing to her car...and nothing was left. No note nothing. The damage to her car was bad enough that we could tell that whoever had done this had to force his/her car into the spot next to her...and no she was not parked to close to the line.

At least a note with sorry about your car would have been better than nothing.

Hey, WHY NOT blame ME, Tha_Truth/GAGGED!!! I seem to get unfairly blamed for EVERYTHING!!! Can SOMEONE in a higher position of authority than randythib please remove MY "gag" order??? How much damage did I cause??? I will ONLY pay if I'M ungagged... even though I had absolutely NOTHING to do with YOUR accident!!! Sorry, I'M just having a little fun while pushing M OWN agenda!!! I sure hope I didn't offend anyone again, but I'M sure that I did somehow!!!
P.S. Sorry about YOUR accident, the lack of personal INTEGRITY is killing America!!! I wish there was a way to find out who hit YOUR vehicle, I'M sure THEY could use a nice, swift kick in the pants!!!

I'm hanging my hat on the 'karma' thing, Dread... but, in the meantime... I'll just suck-it-up and pay to fix it. While I do have 'uninsured motorist' coverage, Bessie... I won't make a claim. Between the deductible and the ding against my policy... it'll be 'cheaper', this way.

Tom, far too many people on our streets don't have insurance, so maybe that was the case here. It's turning into the wild west.

Mike... while it's a reality that there are too many uninsured drivers... i don't think that absolves them of responsibility. I was really hoping for that security video... so I could track-down that careless driver.
