For months I've been operating a cracked Blackberry.  It's purely an aesthetic problem that's always seemed to bother others much more than it has me.   I've watched photographers squint at it and people I interview say, 'Nice phone.'

I was able to handle the mockery until a few weeks ago.  That's when the "crackberry" made the 9 o' clock news.  I immediately received a string of text messages from my husband and friends.  They went like this... 'I know it wasn't your idea to show that mess of a phone on my big screen TV!'   So I finally cracked and ordered a new screen.  Actually, my husband did that for me.  He couldn't get to the computer fast enough.

After and before....what do you think?  Much better, right?

Thanks for the support, guys. We'll settle who gets to keep the screen with a game of rock, paper scissors.

I can relate, SallyMac-- My old pda/phone was in such horrible shape, the metal frame around the window actually cut my ear when I was on a phonecall! But has anyone noticed Carrie's pink-bling-bling phone in the "Sex and the City" movie seems to have duct tape on it?? And it's in living colour on the reallllllly big screen!

My dream has come true! I'm so thankful to report in the city that means the most to me. I'm the one in the newsroom who's excited to cover any story, from the most powerful hurricane to the most mundane city council meeting. While I certainly don't find comfort in reporting on another's troubles, the people I meet each day inspire me in some way, and I hope they affect you, too!
