In an effort to put more pep in its business, Starbucks outlined some new ideas Wednesday.  I was excited to read the line, "It will start rewarding people who use the company's purchase card."

I'm thinking, 'yea!'  Free cup of joe with every 10 purchases, the chance to win a trip to Seattle, a cool new mug?

Oh no...the big reward is free SYRUP in my flavored latte...

I can, however, offer up my ideas on Starbucks' new social networking site.  That's right...mystarbucksidea.com will be sure to rival myspace and facebook.

SallyMac,

I go to the Starbucks kiosk in my local Kroger. With my Kroger card, every 6th drink I have gotten has been free, and it has been now since they went in. They have the same prices and the same drinks.. just that they are not open as long as the stand alone Starbucks.

I do not occasion to frequent Fourbucks save for to meet someone from Craigslist to meet for a deal.

I do find it seriously amusing that people complain about the price for a pound of coffee, but spend four bucks to buy one cup.

What a racket!

I just got done reading the story for Starbucks were the managers were sharing in the tips that the shift workers were making and now Have been order to pay all that money back. I think its a shame that the managers thought that they should share in the tips, when the wait staff make far less per hour then the manager staff. The wait staff work for about $ 2.50 ph + tips. I say Pay Up Starbucks you bunch of cheap skates.. Its hard enough to make a living without taking from the hired help. That heck with the stock brokers pay them back.

Sally,
In reading your blog...it makes me even more glad that I DON'T drink coffee! I don't even like spending more than a dollar for a little bottle of water.

My dream has come true! I'm so thankful to report in the city that means the most to me. I'm the one in the newsroom who's excited to cover any story, from the most powerful hurricane to the most mundane city council meeting. While I certainly don't find comfort in reporting on another's troubles, the people I meet each day inspire me in some way, and I hope they affect you, too!
