I have two very close friends that routinely turn down my invitations to play free golf.  Most of the time I even offer to drive and buy the first round of beverages. Still, I get "uh, thanks man but uh, I got to mow the lawn" or "dude, i need to buy new golf shoes, my old pair fell apart."  The way I see it, I'm offering to buy so I'm saving you $75 bucks on your greens fee which means you can pay someone to mow your lawn or buy yourself a pair of shoes.

So today is the day that I permanently take said friends (and you know who you are) off my list.  I will no longer be calling you to join me for a free round of 18 holes.  Only my go-to-guys will get the offer.  These are the guys that will use an emergency vacation day,  tell their significant other that they have to go to the hospital to visit a sick friend, reschedule a dentist appointment or just basically do whatever it takes to get to the links.

I know what you guys are thinking and yes the thought has crossed my mind that these guys just don't like playing golf with me.  Maybe they don't even care for my company in general.  Hey, I can't tell you how many times I have played with people that I didn't particularly like just so I could get out on the course. It's not a date, we don't have to hold hands!  But seriously, how do you turn down free golf?

Okay, I officially submit my name as a replacement player for those that can't afford a free round. :)

This may sound a little nutty, I am doped up on cold medicine but I am gonna give it a shot~!

I don't know how anyone can turn down FREE golf.. What are they? Nuts? So, these guys would rather mow their lawns... It appears they are in fact nuts. I'll go, I'll play you skins style, then when all is said and done, and I win all your money, I will take care of the drinks, and later pay the guy to mow your lawn so you can spend quality time on the driving range working on your game...Then a few years down the line, you will be on TV playing with the PROS and all these nuts will come out of the woodwork wondering why you don't call them anymore... Sound like a plan?
LOL

I'm thinking these people failed to receive their golf common sense. Why would anyone turn down a free game of golf? I dunno what to say about people who want to mow their lawns over a free game of golf....LOL!

Probably the same friends who turn down playing a free game of tennis or racquetball. Wonder if they feel so intimidated or inadequate at their skills?

I have a standing rule to NOT turn down anything free! Free gas...free dinner...free child care (I love my mother-in-law)...free golf is also on that list. BTW, I took a picture of a giant golfball just for you when I was in Brownsville...it's on my blog pictures!

Maybe its the company they'd be keeping... ok, ok, I'm just kidding... maybe it's that if they don't mow the lawn no one will... how about this... they can take their riding lawn mower on to the greens... two birds... one stone! You're welcome.

According to Kristine Galvan, I'm the station junk man. That's because I pick up all the assignments that everyone else avoids. But hey, it's a living. I'm a non-award winning, non-journalist and so far I like it that way.
