Greetings from beautiful and smoggy Los Angeles!  I just checked in at the Renaissance Hotel in Hollywood which serves as home base this week for most of the Fox stations that are here to cover American Idol.  It's next door to the Kodak theater which is where the Idol finale was .... last season!  This year it's at the Nokia theater which is nine miles away in downtown L.A.

But I'm not complaining because this is a sweet assignment and I'm really lucky to be here.  I've already seen pictures of David Archuleta and David Cook all over the place.  There's even a giant billboard outside of my hotel reminding me to watch all my Idol coverage on the TV guide network.  I wouldn't say this town is all about A.I. right now but there is definitely a buzz.

As soon as I get cleaned up, my photographer Greg and I are gonna hop in the car and drive to the Nokia theater and pick up our credentials.  After that it's a bunh of hurry and wait for the show to start and then do our live shot for the 9pm news.  Which you are required to watch if you are reading this.

Ruben,
Who do you think will be the next American Idol?

Hope you get to meet and chat with both of them. Also, hope you get to interview and chat with Randy, Paula and Simon.

I hope so too. Tonight is the big night so we will see what happens. So far the Idol folks have been pretty cool to the media.

I'm waiting for interviews on myfoxhouston.com and I don't see any other than the one that aired at 9:00. I'm not going to be up at 5:00 a.m. to watch. So I hope you'll put them on here (all of them). I need a David Cook interview fix please. Addict here.

According to Kristine Galvan, I'm the station junk man. That's because I pick up all the assignments that everyone else avoids. But hey, it's a living. I'm a non-award winning, non-journalist and so far I like it that way.
