I love the Cure.  I just always have.  I became a serious fan when they released Head on the Door.  There is a song on there called "A nigh like this" and everytime I hear it it just makes me happy.  Not upbeat happy but more like dark, rainy night happy.  I guess that's because I first heard it driving home from Columbus one night and it was pouring.  So I always think of that moment.  And the Cure is also responsible for one of my all time favorite songs "Just like Heaven."  The bass line is awesome, the drums are perfect, the keys are sublime and then Robert Smith sings the most heart breaking lines of his life ..

"Daylight licked me into shape
I must have been asleep for days
And moving lips to breathe her name
I opened up my eyes
And found myself alone alone
Alone above a raging sea
That stole the only girl I loved
And drowned her deep inside of me"

Oh, that still kills me to this day ... it takes me back to that place!!!!

That song is on my IPod. Love it. I also like "Pictures of You." I have vivid memories associated with those songs as well.

Love The Cure.

Just Like Heaven
Why Can't I Be You
Lets Go To Bed
Friday, I'm in Love

I'm a sucker for New Wave--DePeche Mode (my all time favorite), Erasure, New Order. Makes sense, being a child of the 80s and all.

When I was in Mexico, I bought an import Cure album. It was from their live show at Wembley in 1989. To this day, Home Sick reminds me of traveling the long winding back roads from Mexico to El Salvador.

I still love The Cure, yet being hispanic the dark British style Robert Smith had freaked my mom out. I rember her saying "Ay Dios Mio help my daughter!!!" LOL now my mom understands it was just a phase, but his music still lives on!

Jeez! What a blast from the past. I thought I was a 'secret Cure lover'. Now I know I'm not alone!!

I also secretly listen to ABC, Spandau Ballet, and others. When hubby comes home, I'm back to KHits and Jimmy Buffet....

The Cure is a great group and still love listening to this day. Back in the 80s' we danced and danced all night long to the Cure, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, Madonna, Dead or Alive, Beloved. (sigh) Oh, those were the times!

Thanks for dropping by the blog you guys, good to know that true fans of the British new wave sound are still out there. Pyschedelic Furs anyone?

I saw the Pyschedelic Furs in concert here in 1987 (or 1986). I really enjoy their music also. Ruben, there were so many groups in the 80s that were great! Thanks for the memories!

According to Kristine Galvan, I'm the station junk man. That's because I pick up all the assignments that everyone else avoids. But hey, it's a living. I'm a non-award winning, non-journalist and so far I like it that way.
