Robin's Nest part deux

Ever since Comcast took over Time Warner, we have had problems with them. Atleast once a month I would have to call Comcast and tell them that they are NOT Comcastic due to outages. They would give me BS responses, like.."Oh we had a PPV fight last night and all the signals where jammed because of it." HUH?

So last week I switched to Direct TV. They claimed to have the most HD channels. They claim to be cheaper. So Thursday they came out and we have a lovely dish on the side of the house now. But, we have had problems with the equipment ever since.  The card in the box in the living room is bad and I am waiting for a new one to shipped out. Every 1/2 hour I have to reset the box. One of the twins kept loosing signal in his room. A tech came out yesterday to fix that. He said the switch went bad outside and replaced it.

I think I have called Direct's customer service, in 4 days, as many times as I called Comcast in the 6 months they have had control.

Now I am looking for another internet service so I can stop giving Comcast my money all together. I haven't been able to find anything to beat them in speed yet.

A very good post robin,
I have the same problem, the reason for my reading your blog!

For the 1st 7 months of service I had excellent service then Comcast sent a signal to my box, screwing it all up.
I have exchange the box 4 times, & get less channels each time.
I am considering changing to Verison's package deal, & now I am confused!

It is so sad that you cannot get good service--perhaps because of the personnle thay are hiring!
I may check out Hughes--
Thank you for the advice--

I have never had a problem with Directv and we've had them for many, many years now with many changes of receivers, dishes, etc. Isolated issues that were immediately resolved. When Hurricane Rita came through and my neighbors had trees blown down in their yards, I never lost service. It has to be a pretty intense storm for me to lose my signal and then it doesn't last for long. I've heard good and bad things about hughes.net.
