Gambling Therapy has a wealth of skills and experience in helping those affected by compulsive gambling or affected by a loved one's compulsive gambling.

I think an addiction to gambling is one of the most terrifying things. You have to go on the above site and look at their discussion forum. Some of these people have absolutely no control and have gambled away EVERYTHING they have. The strange thing is... this is more common than you think... yet no one ever talks about it.

Do you think people are more embarassed to be a gambling addict than an alcoholic?

I don't know if you can compare the two. But you can definitely pair them. I have a friend whose marriage was destroyed when her husband became a compulsive gambler. He was facing losing everything-- his wife, his child, his home-- but he couldn't quit. And his shame drove him to drink. A double addiction is twice as tough. Twice as damaging. And twice as embarrassing. But therapists will tell you, it's not uncommon.
