On May 15, I sprain my right thumb. I was told by two doctors that St. Luke's The Vintage was a non emergency room. I decided that I would go to The Vintage instead of going to the non ER at Kelsey Seybold in the medical center because it would be closer to where I live. Though I was the only patient there it took over an hour to get the results of my x-rays. Upon exiting I was told that I owed $200.00. I asked why, when I went to the non ER in the med center and only paid $50.00. The receptionist said that St.Luke's the Vintage is an ER that is what my insurance said I would have to pay. I don't understand how the Vintage ER can be considered a free standing ER if they can't care for someone in cardiac arrest or having problems breathing. Why isn't the Vintage still considered non ER facility? I have attempted to call St. Luke's The Vintage Administers to no avail. Can you please find out for me? I feel that St. Luke's is milking the system dry by using the terms like a Free Standing ER when it is really a non ER facility. I was also told that the once non ER at St. Luke's Kelsey Seybold on Holcombe is now a free standing ER too. Why? They still aren't equipped to do life saving procedures either.
