I had a chance to see the movie it is great! Denzel and Russell Crowe were fabulous in the film. I was surprised by the story of Frank Lucas, the so called American gangster that was highlighted. I certainly want to do some more research on Frank Lucas to see how if the movie was a mirror image of his story or mostly fiction.
I don't think that this is an oscar worthy performance. I see this as a historical depiction of real events but not worthy of an Oscar for either Denzel or Russell Crowe.
Will you see the film? Have you seen it? What did you think of the performance? Oscar for the actors? Best picture nod maybe?

I used to watch Dog the Bounty Hunter on A&E all the time. The way Dog, his son and his wife and brothers went after the bond jumpers in Hawaii made me laugh. But I am not laughing at Dog's lastest rant. A&E suspended the reality series after Duane "Dog" Chapman made remarks to his son about him dating a black woman.
This was taken from an online version of the story:
Here are some snippets from the understandably controversial chat, in
which
Chapman—a Hawaii-based bail bondsman by trade—discusses with his
son the
repercussions of having a black person around while he and his team use
the
N-word (Tucker's girlfriend, Monique Shinnery, is black.):
"I'm not taking a chance...not because she's black but because we use
the
word n----- sometimes here. I'm not going to take any chance ever in
life of
losing everything I've worked for 30 years because some drunken n-----
heard us
say n----- and turned us into the Enquirer magazine…I'm not taking
that
chance at all never in life. Never…"
Dawg Dog! Wow! Those comments are insensitive at best and ignorant.
He did later apologize for his statements and offending folks, but I don't know if it is enough to make me watch the show again.
Do you think A&E did the right thing by suspending him? Should they cancel the show all together? Does this surprise you about Dog the Bounty Hunter?
I know I won't watch it anymore.

Beyonce is coming back home on Saturday for her new tour. Tickets are pretty pricey from what I understand... it will cost you an arm and a leg to attend the show.
Are you planning to see Jay-Z's girlfriend this weekend in concert or will you be like me and just play the cds real loud at home and turn the lights down low and pretend :)

So called shock jock Don Imus called members of the Rutgers women's basketball team "nappy-headed ho's" and his producer referred to the players as "jigaboos and wannabees". The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) as well as the Rev Al Sharpton were outraged at the comments. Some are calling for his removal. Imus has since apologized for the comments, saying they were insensitive. NABJ has called his apology "too little too late".
The Rutgers team made it to the NCAA championship game last week were they lost to Tennessee.
How do you feel about the comments and the calling for his removal, is this free speech? I know some folks are outraged, but I wonder if these comments had been made by a so-called artist in a rap or hip-hop song played on radio, would we be so upset? Hmmm.

Well, well, NASA fired the diaper wearing astronaut who gave the space agency a not so flattering spotlight.
I must say that I was surprised it took as long as it did. She is obviously already "in space" so really she didn't need to work for NASA.
What do you think? Was NASA right for giving her the boot?

I am holding back the tears as I write this. Yes I am a Dwayne Wade fan, okay fanatic... He is a master on the court and the best guard in the NBA if you ask me. But he is down and out for possibly the remainder of the season, what will I do? He has only been out for two days and I am already dealing with separation anxiety. The very best surgeons in the world need to come together and fix his shoulder. The playoffs will not be the same without him. I think the teams in the East are all collectively sighing right now and thanking their lucky stars. But I miss him!
In the meantime, Go Rockets! You looked great against Miami and I hope that your playoff run will be longer than in years past.

Wow! History in the making. The Colts' Tony Dungy and the Bears' Lovie Smith. This is a first, two black head coaches in the BIG GAME. And not to mention the first title game for the Bears in over 40 years. It will make for great headlines in the week to come as the big game shapes up.
Who do you think will take home the title this year? I think Colts all the way!

I am so excited Hillary Clinton has decided to toss her hat into the ring for the top job in the United States. I hope that the country is open to a female running the show. In my opinion it is time for a change and I think Hillary has a good chance of making it happen. What do you think? Is this country ready for a female president?

The city of Friendswood is considering the notion of making English the official city language...
This debate is just way too much. I think there are so many other things for us to be worried about, but that is just me. I think it is important for folks to know English, but making it a law for a city to only speak English.. man oh man. Aren't there more important things for city government to tackle? Shouldnt we focus on literacy period, just education and learning no matter the language, I think we would all be better off if we practiced a little more tolerance.
What do you think?

Okay so I am not a fan of the man O.J. Simpson... but his latest antics are enough to make you go HMMM?
He will be talking to FOX about what he says "how he WOULD have killed his former wife"
Uh What?? O.J. are you on crack? Seriously whatever drug you are taking that makes you think this is okay please stop taking it.
Is anyone in your family talking to you, because I would hope they would have advised you to not talk.
I will wait to hear exactly what he says.

That report on the church and the thrift store...that was great. Those folks were so funny trying to keep you in the store. You and your photographer kept your cool though. Man, the things investigative journalists have to go through to bring us the stories... You rock man!

For those who know me you know I am a HUGE sports fan an even BIGGER basketball fan! I do love the Rockets and Comets, I am loyal to the hometown team (but am secretly in love with Dwayne Wade from Miami, well I guess it is not a secret, I mean I am really in love with the guy, not stalker love, but anyway, I digress)
Anyway... So I had the chance to see the Rockets preseason game against Milwaukee and I was impressed. Thanks to a lovely woman whom I have never met Teresa Harris, she was so kind to listen to my I'm sure rambling mother talk about how her daughter is a big Rocket fan, so she gave me VIP passes to the game, she has never met me before... How cool was that! Needless to say, she is now one of my new heroes! Thank you sooo much Teresa... Okay, I digress again.
I can say that of late I have not been impressed by the Rockets early in the season. I am hopeful that this year they won't struggle to just make it into the playoffs and fizzle out on me.
I am a die hard fan from back in the days of World B Free and Otis Thorpe and Ralph Sampson and Hakeem and Rodney McCray.. yes old school I know, but those guys got me hooked on Rocket Ball...
I hope you guys will watch the team as hopeful as I am and who knows maybe I will see you at the Toyota Center one night.
