Its drizzling in Raymondville, but not much seems out of the ordinary. We've seen a few trucks pulling boats and rv's up Highway 77, but other than that the RGV seems pretty calm.
I had a conversation with George Garrett, the Mid-Valley emergency manager, earlier today. He tells me the valley is at extreme risk for flooding for two reasons. One, the valley got 7 inches of rain over the fourth of July weekend, so the ground is already saturated. Dolly is predicted to dump another 10 to 20 inches of rain here. And two, 10 to 20 inches of rain means the Rio Grande will more than likely spill out of its banks. That's really bad news for some of the lower lying areas. Garrett says the Las Milpas community near Pharr, Progreso, Brownsville and Harlingen are most at risk for flooding.
Photographer Gregg Ramirez , Sat truck operator Alan Barlow and I will check back in with you guys throughout the day and night from Port Isabel and South Padre Island. Stay tuned as we say Hello, Dolly

I love Houston, but miss South Texas... ...Have a weakness for pasta and vinegar-soaked cucumbers made by my father-in-law's sister in Kansas or.... The Blue Onion in Weslaco (McAllen too!)...I absolutely love the outdoors, and can never resist a nap! And did I mention I found in Houston the most amazing "better half" I could have ever wished for? Besos!
