We always seem to complain when we run into people in the customer service business (waiters, waitresses, cashiers, etc) who do a bad job, but never quite the opposite.

I love shopping at the HEB on 18th Street when Roy is working.  He's awesome- always in a good mood, always happy, and it rubs off on customers.  I'll stand in a longer line just to deal with him.

This weekend, my bestfriend and I spent hours in Babies R Us,  USA Baby, and Target preparing for the arrival of her little one (and my God Daughter).    Gracie is  just 2 weeks from delivery and she was in a horrible mood.  I had to apologize for her and tell her to settle down several times.  But we ran into a super courteous employee at Westheimer Babies R Us on Sunday.  His name was Tony, and just like Roy...his good mood put us in a good mood- well me, at least.

So since we never really take time to do it...Thank you Roy and Tony.  Your employers are lucky to have you.

Having dated a waitress or two, I know that leaving a tip is a way to show your graditude for good service. I don't mind leaving a good tip as long as the service was good enough to warrant it. The mistake that gets me every time is when you pick up food at the drive thru window, get home and "No fries??" If you call, the people are polite, but hearing "If you come back, we will be happy to give them to you," won't make you feel much better. Why? I'm not letting my burger get cold while I drive back. (Not to mention the extra gas needed for the trip) No, bite the bullet, and take the loss. If it happens enough, you will check your order carton by carton before you drive away. If it's right, smile and say'Thank you'.....

My perfect customer service person is a cashier at the Porter Kroger named Lisa. Always a smile, always helpful, anticipates her customer's needs, and will run down the aisles herself to grab a forgotten purchase. Their pharmacist, Wesley, is the same way. They both make me feel like I'm in a country store from long ago.

I appreciate a person that appreciates their position in life and work. I just took a 10k/yr paycut to keep my job. I could easily find another one that actually pays better and has benefits. However, I feel the need to help the people that come here. It's like a calling. Customers know me and I know I try my best to help them with whatever I can.

Jeeter! We must be semi-neighbors! I semi-wish they'd expand that HEB too. No Bakery? No Meat Market? But I kinda like its so small...like a hidden treasure.

Anyway, Im so glad you guys named people who do awesome at their jobs. That was the point of this blog. I wanted to recognize people like Roy and Tony who might otherwise go "UNTHANKED" (My English Teaching Mom is going to kill me for that one!)

I like that you appreciate the "little people" that you come in contact in your day to day life.
When i was younger i worked both as a dishwasher at a local club-eating establishment in Brownsville, as well as at the Dairy Queen in SPI that my relatives managed.
I was always very polite to people and would appreciate it when they were as well.
And to this day, i call or contact the manager of an employee who i feel is extra courteous to me where ever i go.
Cuz by the grace of God, there go i.
Rock on Kristine!

I love Houston, but miss South Texas... ...Have a weakness for pasta and vinegar-soaked cucumbers made by my father-in-law's sister in Kansas or.... The Blue Onion in Weslaco (McAllen too!)...I absolutely love the outdoors, and can never resist a nap! And did I mention I found in Houston the most amazing "better half" I could have ever wished for? Besos!
