Super delegates, what and who are they? I don’t know. Do you? I’m not well read in politics, I know we have an electoral college, and we have Delegates/Pledged delegates who pledge a vote to a presidential hopefull, and now we have a super delegate and they aren’t tied to an obligated vote. Now what I want to know is where do I the voter fit in? What next super dynamic delegates? How much power do super delegates hold? And from what I’ve read we are coming real close to Government voting in Government scary huh?  Are these super delegates going against the constitution?  Here is a list of some of those super delegates

Super-delegates (approximately 850 in 2008) include the following:

  • Elected members of the Democratic National Committee (~450)

  • Democratic Governors

  • Democratic US Senators and US Representatives (including non-voting delegates)

  • Distinguished party leaders (current and former Presidents and Vice Presidents; former Democratic leaders of the Senate and House; former DNC chairmen)

  • Unpledged "add-on's" chosen by the DNC

You bring up a good point, which is why there is such voter apathy today. More and more elections (as well as legislation) happen with a disregard to the will of the people, it's a wonder people vote at all anymore.

Super-delegates are the earls and lords of the system. It's a shame we haven't progressed much beyond medieval times.
