Wednesday night, I saw a gas station marquee that shocked me. In plain view for all to see, on the NE corner at Beltway and Memorial Drive the sign read $4.07. I know there are other cities experiencing higher prices. But I was shocked to see 4 dollar plus gas in the Bayou City.

We usually tell you where the cheapest gas can be found. But I'd like to know if you have seen 4 dollar plus gas in our area? If so, where?

Jose, I'm glad to say that I hadn't seen that yet, but since you have, I'm sure it won't be long. I keep putting off filling up because I think it will go down. WRONG... Your right Jose, I never thought it would come to $4.00 a gallon here in Houston. Let me ask you, do you think it will ever get back down in the $2.00+ range again? I would like to think it would, but I just don't know anymore.

I really don't think it(gasoline) will ever get back to the 2-dollar plus range. Its sad 'cause a lot of folks are being priced out of using their own cars. The up-side to this is more people carpooling and utilizing mass transit more than in the past. Maybe as we move toward green living... we have to pay out "green" (money) to get there.

Green is a scam Jose. It's no coincidence that the Global warming push, carbon credit scheme, ethanol fiasco and $4 gas came along at the same time.

It sure would be nice if you media types would utilize a little critical thinking and go after the globalist con-men the way you go after slime in the ice machine.

If I remember correctly, back in the early 70's when gas went through the roof, the auto makers all started popping out little 4 cyl. cars right and left. Some were only good for the gas mileage and nothing more but they sold like mad. What happened? We consumed less gas and GAS WENT DOWN. We had gas up the @##. It's well worth the try again. Only if we are serious about the price. And even if it don't.....we will go further on the $4.00 stuff. Just a thought. Have a great weekend!

Let's get together and send a message by boycotting Exxon.
Wake Up Americans,
Last week Matt Lauer on the Today show interviewed Exxon CEO and Chairman Rex Tillerson regarding the high cost of gas. In 2005 Exxon had $36.1 BILLION in PROFIT. More profit than any other company in US history! Mr. Tillerson’s compensation is $4.12 million PER YEAR! Yet this man had the audacity to tell Matt Lauer the high price at the pump is all just a matter of supply and demand.
AMERICANS—let’s show Mr. Tillerson how supply and demand works. Let’s all refuse to buy Exxon. Buy any other gas, BUT NOT EXXON. Let’s show Mr. Tillerson we don’t need EXXON. Then let’s see what happens to the price at the Exxon pumps!
Also, if at all possible pay cash, not credit card, so the credit card companies don’t get a profit from our need to buy gas.

Pointblank... I would love to see prices go back down. But I ain't holdin' my breath.
You Idea of a boycott is a good one. But how do you get the rest of the motoring public to get on the same page with the same idea? If that happens, maybe BIG OIL will listen to our pleas for releif. Until then... We pay the price, which seems to go up every day now.

Pointblack I hope you don't mind. I took your post and emailed it to all my friends from Detroit to Las Vegas, Wyoming to Texas and told them to pass it along. Let's get the ball rolling and beat EXXON at their own game!

I haven't seen any $4.00 gas in my part of town yet, but I'm sure it's on it's way!

Jose and all,
We just have to keep passing the word around and see what happens. If we just take it and do nothing--nothing will happen!
Some people have told me we need to take public transportation, walk or ride a bike. If that's an option--go for it. My situation is we're about 100 miles north of Houston, in a town of pop. 600, the nearest store is 3 miles into the next county over a high 2 lane bridge. Walking or biking is just not safe. To add to it my husband is disabled and can hardly walk, and I've been out of work for 8 months due to illness the doctors can't figure out. Our neighbors carpool with us to the store and the post office as much as we can, but we are all feeling very trapped and alone. People are really hurting over the rising prices--not just with gas. One of my neighbors was widowed 3 months ago, and now since she lost her husband's SS income she's having to set her thermostat at 80 and not use any lights after dark to keep her elec. bill down. She makes $200 a year over the minimum to qualify for any help such as Food Stamps, etc...Anyway, don't mean to whine, but I know there are a lot of people getting desperate.
Thanks for all your comments! Keep on passing the word--we have to try to get someone's attention!
