Remember the John Belushi samurai character on Saturday Night Live?  Well I think I encountered his cousin at a Barbeque place in SW Houston today.  I ordered a sliced beef sandwich and a sliced turkey sandwich...before I knew what happened the sandwich maker pulled out this sword-like giant knife and was chopping this meat like Conan the Barbarian.

So, foolishly I asked him if he would cut the sandwiches in half for me...let me just say that what resulted was a demolished bun and fragments of meats scattered around the wrapper.  At least it tasted good

This Miley Cyrus controversy has me fired up.  She is a 15 year old girl.  She's not a woman, she's a kid.  What on earth were her parents thinking?  How can this magazine Vanity Fair get away with trying to exploit a young girl?

Who do you think is most to blame for these revealing pictures?  Is it Billy Ray, the magazine editors, or do you think there is nothing wrong with the pictures?

Do you ever watch HGTV?  There are lots of shows about buying and selling houses and I'm shocked by how much these people are willing to pay.  They'll say, "This is a lovely 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom home that needs some renovations...the asking price is $850,000...wow what a bargain!"  What the heck planet do these people live on that 800 grand for a little cottage is a good deal?  These folks need to come to Houston and see a mansion they can get for 200 grand...they'd have a heart attack.

So can you help me figure out what's going on here?  Is it all drug money (like my Dad says)?  Is it that they have no idea what a dollar is worth?  Are these seemingly normal people just so filthy rich that a million bucks for a shack looks like a great deal?  What gives?

You wonder what we all talk about during commercial breaks?  Well, here's a sample:  Why do some cartoon characters have clothes and some have no clothes?  Some have a shirt and no pants.  What's up with that?  So here is a short list of cartoon characters with questionable nudity...please add to the list.

Donald Duck - no pants

Boots the Monkey - wears boots and nothing else

Squidward - wears a shirt and no pants

This morning we had actors from "The Rat Pack" which is playing this week at the Hobby Center.  Frank, Dean and Sammy entertained us with jokes and some convincing singing.  So who is your favorite?  You've gotta love Sammy and Dean-o, but I think the Chairman, Frank is the man.

So I'm looking for someone good to cut my hair.  I've been here in Houston for almost 7 years and I still have never found that person who has "it" when it comes to cutting my hair.  So I open it up to you...the Fox 26 bloggers.  Do you know of anyone in Houston who is really really good at cutting men's hair?  Preferably someone who specializes in the "game show host" look.  Thanks

No, it's a real question.  What happens in Vegas?  These commercials are really frustrating me.  "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas"  What exactly are they implying here?  Are they saying, "Hey, come to Las Vegas and cheat on your spouse" or "Come on out to Vegas and get rip roarin' drunk and get arrested"?  I know we have some smart people out there who can explain this to me.

OK, I know I'm a grumpy old geezer, but these contestants on Idol need to get a grip!  Every time someone gets voted off they cry like someone just died.  It's a singing contest and the top ten all get paid to go on tour so calm down please.  Am I being insensitive here?  How do these people react when something that's actually worthy of tears happens?

I know we're not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but from the first time Antonella Barba and her best friend tried out for Idol my wife and I both thought they were trouble.  Being a red-blodded American guy, of course I thought she was nice to look at, but I sensed a "girls gone wild" potential and it turns out I was right.

Apparently Ms.Barba decided it would be a good idea to pose for nude and semi-nude pictures and now those pictures are all over the internet.  So, should Fox kick her off the show?  Remember Frenchy from a few seasons ago?  They kicked her off, so to remain fair, I think she needs to go.  What do you think?

I don't know how it sounded to you, but I think Billy Joel hit a sharp note on the first line of the anthem and just went downhill from there.

Now Prince? He was awesome. I'm not really a big fan of his, but he can play that guitar and sing like nobody's business. I just thought, man playing an electric guitar in the pouring rain can't be a good idea, but he made it happen.

Hello, this is Mike Iscovitz, meteorologist for Fox 26 News. When I'm not at work, I'm spending time with my wife and beautiful twin girls. They are an incredible blessing. In addition to the twins we have to keep up with our somewhat obese but lovable Siamese mix Casper, and our scrappy, spunky Yorkie named Sammy. When I have free time (which I don't) I try to emulate two of my idols, Jimmy Page and Arnold Schwarzenegger by working out and trying to play my Gibson. Contact me at iscovitz@fox26.com
